does anyone else agree with me that teh AE86 dashboards aint exactly teh most attractive things in teh world??

i'm pretty seriously considering getting an AE86 (NOT trueno - i hate them, they are fugly on teh outside as well), and am considering diffeent interior mods i coudl make... has anyone seen a sprinter with a custom dash at all? are there any other toyota dash's that will fit in teh same spot?

dont get me wrong - the appearance of the dash will not be a deciding factor on whether i get it or not, but i'm jst interested to see...

cheers

as a general rule, its very hard to transplant dashes from other cars into any other car, not too say it can't be done. I dont know of anyone who has transferred a dash from one car to another.

it's ugly? compared to what?

if you look at pretty much all the manufacturer's cars from the same period, that was the style used.
the sprinter dash has a good layout IMHO,and is simple.

as for a transplant, you could possibly swap an AE82 dash into one,but why would you bother really?

are you referring to the whole crashpad shape,or just the cluster? I've seen plenty of custom instrument clusters in sprinters, but noone I know of has ever bothered to change out the entire dash for anything else.

Justin...

the main bit i don tlike is the weird bit around the steering wheel - IE what appear to be drivers airvents or whatever... that whole bit just looks... out of place and... well.. ugly...

I like the AE86 dash. Chaser instrument cluster in an RA23: http://www.norbie.net/jza23/JZA23_dash.jpg
With a little bit of work, that'd look really nice.

You should check out DaRolla's fine looking dash swap in his rolla, he shoe-horned a 101 dash and it looks very modern and neat.
