Hey guys,
I got a CQ-DFX572 MP3 head unit for our trip to perth...
But i've found that it skips and pops on 192Kbps Mp3's...
Anyone else have one of these or have similar probs??
From what i've found on the web its an issue with that model, so i might return it, anyone have any thoughts on a good MP3 head unit??
Budget is about $500.
ta
also is someone can bring along some MP3 cd's tonight i'll have a fiddle, or if anyone else has a MP3 head unit i'll like to try it.

I've got a JVC one that I bought for $420 from memory.
Works fine. I've played 128CBR, 128VBR, 160VBR, 192CBR, 192VBR, 256CBR mp3s on it without a single problem. Only ever had it skip once on continual rough terrain (and my suspension is really stiff).

yeah ive got a jvc one too, i orginally picked up a pioneer one but it wouldnt play VBR files, so i took it back.
my only issue with the jvc is not having an option for gapless playback between tracks.. but i havent seen any decks around that can do that yet.
Ryda has a few here just to compare

mp3s arent limited to some of crap you can download off the internet.
Encode your own at high quality VBR and you'll fit 6 albums per cd. its down to personal preference in the end.

I'll admit you lose a bit of quality, but if you do it yourself properly with a good encoding proggy and burner, then you get excellent quality and excellent compression

usually its an encoding/decoding issue
check your mp3's and check the max KHz for the unit

They sound fine on my stock 4" speakers....
I encode all my mp3s at 160VBR and don't have problems with the quality. It's in the car anyway, you shouldn't be concentrating on the music...
