How much boost
Tue, 22 July 2003 22:53
Hey..
How much boost is a 3sgte engine good for before exploding. I got an ST185CS from 93´ and I do about 1 bar but I want a little bit more....power.
Best regards.
Jacob

I have a 165 3SGTE with HiFlow CT26 in my TA22 and run 25psi with spiking rising to between 30 - 40 psi the motor seems to take it ok but if you get any detionation at these levels say goodby to your pistons .

The CS (Group A) has ECU mapping for up to 16psi. Thats about the limit of the standard turbo as well.
Even with a hi-flow turbo you will need an additional fuel control device to run more than 16psi or you will lean out and destroy your engine.
