How long do your tyres last ?

Ok time to ask what type of tyres you guys have and what compound they are made of and how long they last.
It would also be useful to tell us how you drive your sports car !
For me, on my Lancer, I dont drive it too much but when I used to drive approx 300-350 kms a week, a set of Silverstone 205/40/17's lasted me more than 1 and a half years!!!!! possibly cus I could never fry those tyres in the Lancer.
As for the Celica, I have stock 14's... 185/60/14 ??? and when I bought it, the tyres passed rego, but after about 2-3 months of hard driving, they are as bald as a Brazillian swimsuit model.

well, I've had my RA65 stockers for just on 15 months now. They started out decent, not perfect but not much wear, and now they're no longer legal (lucky i know the mechanic who does my rego )

I went through a rear set of bridgstone potenza S02 's in about 6 weeks !!
they were 80% (IMHO) when I got the car and 6 weekslater seriously illegal. I Didn't do any burnouts, just the old road.
Time to file down the wear bars for 1 last trip!!
they were 255/40/17 's
replacements were quoted as $470 each !!!! OUCH !
Might get something cheaper next time !

My celica is not on the road yet, so as for tyres on that i dunno. But on my Proton GTI i got about a year or 30,000kms out of a set of michelen pilot SXGT. Mad tyre, stick like shit does to a blanket, and i am told a soft compound, thats for some fairly hard corner taking as well, so i dont think i done to bad out of them. Now i got silverstone ftz time will tell.

I have Eagle F1s on the front. They grip OK, not the best. But wet weather performance is mind blowing!!
They're awesome in the rain! The confidence they give you is phenomenal.
Oh and how long tyres last is dependant upon the compound. I've had soft compound Dunlops which only lasted me 6 months.... Most tyres average about a year though for me.

Hmm....my Dunlop FM901s in 195/60-14s last me about 10,000kms or 12,000kms. Anything over that and I'm extremely happy!! No burnouts, just hard driving!! And my race set of Bridgestones RE540S... ha! About 1200kms of road driving?
Cheers!

Camry SV21 with supercharger
I get 20 000 out of pretty much any brand that I use. That is 20 000 for the set of 4, I just rotate em around as they wear on the front until the set is buggered.
Driving is hard all the time and usually do some runs at the Palmyra dragway. Warming the tyres takes away a lot of life.

Ive got goodyeay f1's and also can vouch for the grip in the wet - very VERY hard to shake loose ..
had them for 2 months now - still look as good as new
Previous to that i had Kuhmo powermax tyreas - they lasted up well considering the miliage i used to do and the roads i used to drive on but they are nothing compared to the F1's for pure grip

i had the cheapest tyres you could buy, made by bridgestone but renamed sky way 185's lasted me a year on my L's which was pretty much just doing about 80km a week then lasted me 10 months on my p's doing about 300km a week but also include another 2000km when i drove to melbourne on them but they were cheap yet gripped very well, either the celica just grips the road well or those tyres were pretty good as i never had the back slide out or understeer or anything while cornering on those puppies yet they lacked grip on dirt and in the wet they were pretty easy to get sliding or spinning.

so many things can shorten tire life alinement, pressure, road surface and driving style Goodyear F1's are the shit for wet weather, simex make a good cheap tire that is good alround (awsome for the money) It all comes down to how you treat them, some of us will get a good run out of one type and others will not.

When i was living in NZ i could get TOYOs real cheap, so i bought a set of TS-1s for my ae92 Levin.... well lets just say i didnt have any hint of under or over steer at all, which is pretty good for a FWD car.... pity i could never get more than 8000 kms outta a set though , and i thought Falken Ze502s had grip !!!!
