Can't Stop the MA61 on a Postage Stamp!

Hey All,
I am not satisfied with my MA61's Brakes (when i try to stop). Does anyone have any ideas in upgrading the brakes. I think i have an air bubble in the brake line (haven't had time to bleed the brakes to find out).
A friend has a 85 Bluebird with a R31 GTR 4-pot brakes (in the front) and it stops on a postage stamp. Is there anyway of achieving this with the standard setup and different brakes on the front or do i need to bleed the brakes because the MA61 can do this?
Cheers...

Bleeding your brakes won't increase the performance of the braking system, unless you have LOTS of air in the system and the pedal is going all the way to the floor! Definitely bleed the brakes anyway, there's nothing worse than a spongy brake pedal.
An MA61 will pull up quite well with good pads and rotors. Pads make a huge difference, so get good ones. Decent rotors will also help - note that you can get DBA slotted rotors for about $250 (front pair).
If this still isn't good enough for you, it's time for a brake conversion. This means lots of custom fabrication work and lots of $$$. I don't know of anyone who has actually done a serious brake upgrade on an MA61, which is a shame since I need to upgrade my brakes in the near future... oh well, I'll have to do it the hard way again!

Don't forget tires, tire pressure, alignment, and shockies.

This question seems to pop up every now and then and i can`t understand why.My MA61 has standard brakes(all new) and it does stop on a "postage stamp".Also "some" of the people asking about brake upgrades are running the 5me.Now why the fark would you need any more braking power for this gutless engine???...I`m only assuming that people complaining about their standard brakes realy just need the standard system rebuilt. As norbie stated quality pads can make a HUGE difference but IMO unless your engine is pumping out over 400 HP and/or you circuit race the car i see no real need to even think about upgarading the brakes!
just my 2 cents worth!

Agreed, my standard MA61 brakes work very well even when abused on lengthy mountain runs (ie half an hour of absolutely hammering the brakes). For a stock or near stock street-driven Mk2, the existing brakes are more than adequate if properly maintained. If I wasn't in the process of upgrading to a 2JZ-GTE (with up to 400hp on tap as soon as I get it running) I wouldn't be bothering with an upgrade!

Yesterday i was talking to one of the toymod board guys, i think it was Rod, appologies if a get it wrong, very sorry i didn't grab your name.
He was very helpful telling about the upgrade they do to the celicas with 4 pot hilux calipers and they fit underneath 14 inch wheels! This is exactly what i'm looking for! I love the factory 14's that come on the ma61's. So that "might" be an option for ma61's depending on clearance.
Mine doesn't stop either! i know where your comming from. Changing the springs helped alot, i know its got nothing to do with the brakes but it stopped the front dropping three inches before the brakes attempted to work.
