Guys I need to send an SMS to some one in Canada on their mobile,
they tell me they can receive them.
Dialing international numbers you dial 0011
Canada's int code is 1
I've got the mobile number to SMS to what do I put?
Someone told me about "+" symbo, or something at the begining??
Help fast would be very appreciated

The 0011 is equivalent to the + symbol when you don't have a keypad that does the +...
So, for example, to call this Australian mobile number:
0414 1234 5678
International dialing would be:
+61 414 1234 5678
or
0011 61 414 1234 5678

but with mobile sms im not so sure you need the prefix...
does the mobile youre going to sms have international roaming? if so, just fire away an sms as usual, using the normal number, and it should get there.
otherwise you can:
0011 1 (then the mobile number - but drop the zero at the start of the number)
OR
+ 1 (then the mobile number - but drop the zero at the start of the number)

Don't drop the 9!
Just add the +1 to the front.

How did you go with that Paul???
My g/f has been in Greece for the last 3 weeks and the start of the number was different and she had to get a new sim card as her normal one didn't work over there...

Hey All,
It should work. I just come back from Asia with international roam activated on the phone. Just remember that when you try and call Australia that you need to have the +61 x xxxx-xxxx for land line or +61 xxx xxx-xxx for mobiles. Similar rule applies to phoning /SMSing out with the Country. Any number begining with zero, drop it and proceed with the next numbers...
Cheers.
PS. Make sure you have International Call baring deactivated else you would not be able to SMS out/phone out of Australia.

Always a good idea to have the phone numbers in your phone stored in international dialing format (if you see yourself having the possibility of using global roaming).
