Justcallmefrank is trying to ligthen his XX Celica which is pretty close so you can ask him.
Alternatively here is a part weight listing in pounds due to it being from a yank.
http://www3.sympatico.ca/dean.anderson4/weights.ht ml
Get a carbon fibre bonnet (not a black painted one), move the battery to the boot, space saver spare tyre, manual is lighter than the auto, and whack in a new jz motor
That should cover it, you can always remove the comforts but why would you, fast glass, air con -> lots can come out! etc

I'm not going big here because my car is going to be a street car, but there are a few things that you can save on.
-Space saver wheel. This was a little lighter than even my Celica alloy. Bonus is it also fits flush with the boot floor.
-Seats. Comfy as they are, the Mk2 Supra seats weigh a tonne. They ain't obviously in the Mk3 category for weight, but compare them to normal Celica seats and they weigh heaps. I bought some OBX Carrera buckets that weigh less than the Celica ones.
-Engine. Engine choice would play a big part, the M's are rather heavy, the JZ's are a tad lighter, then you have the 1UZ or the 1G. I wanted a 1UZ initially, but the 1G made more sense financially.
-Transmission. As has been said, the manual ones weigh less.
-Air conditioning. If you don't need it, whack the manual stuff from a Celica in. I don't know if the non-climate control air-con from a Celica XX or Celica is any lighter, but mine is getting that (someone removed it originally).
-Stereo. Obviously a big stereo is going to cost weight. My stero is going to be simple. Just make sure you remove the factory gear you ain't using, like the tiny sub! Every bit counts.
-Wheels. The Mk2 Supra rims ain't exactly heavy, but you can save a few kg's per corner. My car came with some older Rays Engineering rims which are lighter than even my old Celica alloys even though they are 15"x6.5" as opposed to 14"x5.5".
From here things start getting expensive and too drastic. You can replace the bonnet for carbon fibre, you can remove all the sound deadening, you can rip out the back seat. These things just didn't make sense for me...

Its interesting that you say to purchase a carbon fibre bonnet, I dont see these as being 'off the shelf' items... unless you know something i dont know...
on another note.. thanks very much for the weights list, it was the exact thing i was looking.. it shall make some interesting reading
Cheers,

carbon fibre bonnet would be fantastic.. but unless we can find *lots* of people to go in for it, it'd cost a shiteload to get made up.
anyone know how much a carbon fibre bonnet actually weighs? (a lot less than the 20kg ma61 one I'm guessing)

Thanks Frank, I was just curious to see if people had been in the quest for a lighter car...
The main reason is basically to offset any additional parts...
as for the OBX seats, how did you go fitting those in? I wouldnt suppose they bolt straight to the floor... Are you happy with them ie. comfort, height, support... ??

http://www.carbonfibrefx.com/products.htm - Carbon Fibre/Fibreglass/Carbon Kevlar bonnets
I havent actually test fitted them, reason me being lazy and haven't finished one of them. I drilled the old seat rails from the old seats and then attached them to the OBX seats. I havent tested them driving yet, but I tried a lot of seats before I bought them, they fit me like a glove, supporting in all the right areas, plus they look cool!

I'm looking for some seats too.. anyone recommend some good light bucket seats?
folding would be nice, but I know they're prohibitively expensive

Some of the SAAS seats are not too shabby, and they ain't that expensive: http://www.saas.com.au/prod_seats_fr.htm
Make sure you get something thats ADR approved, but its going to need engineering anyway.

A new exhaust can also become a little lighter than the stock system as well.
There was a large group buy a while back that the yanks on the yahoo mk2 list did for fibreglass and carbon fibre bonnets. When converted to $AU they became a tad expensive to say the least, we would be much better off having them made up here by a shop and having a group buy that way.

non-recliner tho ed! can you imagine getting people into the back seats?
that's the advantage of that saas one
plus they dont list the weight of the evo
saas one is 12kg, which is an 8kg saving on each seat
my new exhaust is probably heavier although no extractors or cat .... but the turbo makes up for that

Those SAAS seats are pretty light, even my OBX Carrera weighs just over 13kg.

Me too, its not the most comfy of places (the XX makes this even worse cos of the sunroof retracting into the headspace), but I like being able to carry extra people if I need to.

never had more than 2 (single) good looking girls in there at once.
and I'll take this moment to point out how pissed off I am about the number of stunningly beautiful female friends I have, yet still single

easy solution here
the drivers seat never moves
everybody gets in and out of the passengers side
worked for a friend of mine
we all just got used to it

exactly, i (almost) never adjust my seat, as it takes me days to get it back into the right postion.
my only concern with a fixed bucket is, will the fixed angle be right for me? it better be, as there is no changing it. i'd prefer a bendy one, so i could just leave that in the right position all day.
and so i can slam it fooly sick down and not see over the steering wheel too.
