It all depends on your setup Jacob.
If you have a full 3 inch system already then gutting the stock cat will give you a noticeable increase in bost and therefore hp.
I have consistently have an approx 3psi boost increase between running a cat and not. This has been the same with a couple of different exhaust systems and turbos.
All those flow tests that show no drop in flow from a cat are bogus. yes at the pitiful flow bench flow they are testing theres no flow restriction but try pumping 500cfm thru it and i can guarantee you'll see a restriction. Blind freddy can see that there's not the same cross sectional area in a act as there is in a straight pipe. And even if they get close the frictional surface is orders of magnitude greater.
The short answer is yes you will see some gains, even if only in quicker spool up. How much will depend on how you have set up the rest of your exhaust system.
i should add that it's totally illegal and attracts a hefty fine if you run this setup on the street

justen - thats exactly what i was going to say - for a few HP - do you want to have the risk of an unroadworthy , and therefore illegal streetcar ?
If your concerned about power - just get a proper 3 dump pipe + performance exhaust made up - with a high flow cat moved back further than where the stock one is ..
youd still get a few more neddys from having none - but at least it would be legal .
Im taking this avenue before years end on mine..

Hey Guys,
Well I have a CS GT4 and DID gut the cat... It was a pain in the arse to do as there is covers and bolts and more covers heh But it did make an improvement over stock... I would say about 10-15hp.
Then I put a 3 1/2" downpipe on and well, huge difference. Easy double the power increase of the gutted cat.

Hey..
Soarer it´s also illigal in Denmark to remove the cat, but sometimes you have to be a criminal, and get some more Hp. I currently run about 14psi - 1bar but I want a little bit less spool up time of the turbo.
I think I get a 3" pipe instead of the cat.
Jacob
Thanks for all the replies

The down/dump pipe bolts to the turbo then the cat bolts to the down/dump pipe.

Hey.
Sorry all of my questions!
Is possible to make a downpipe yourself of a 3" pipe and place it between the cat and the turbo?
Can I feel the difference with the downpipe?

The down pipe is a pretty tricky thing to make! If you were extremly good with steel works you could possibly pull it off but you would be best buying and off the shelf item.

yes you can make your own - but its a turd of a job
a exhaust shop could make it - but may charge you like a wounded bull
the aussie ones a off the shelf ready to bolt up job - just buy and get fitted
