Can 2jz camshafts be used in a 1j engine? I've seen both engines with the valve covers off(not in the same day) and they look pretty close, and I've been told you can use 2j cam gears on a 1j..Thanks-Eric

I tried a search and could not find a definte answer, only a thread pretty much asking the same thing. If anyone has tried to put 2j cams in a 1j head, please let me know. Also would a 1j benifit at all from stock(us spec)2j cams? In the US it's easy to get 2j aftermarket stuff, but very hard to get 1j stuff. I would go with aftermarket 2j cams, but would like to see if stock ones would be an improvment. Thanks.

I could sell you some stock 2j cams if you want.. no guarantee that they'll fit though.

Detailed 1JZ/2JZ cam specs were covered in a thread not long ago, but possibly on the old forum so you might want to check there? From memory there wasn't much difference between them, so probably not worth swapping in stock 2JZ cams (that's if they'll even fit).
