Wheel sizes (newbie question) Tue, 29 July 2003 15:10 Go to next message
Hi guys,

I've only been a member for 1 day and already I'm loving these forums.. great wealth of knowledge and most of you guys always seem happy to help or offer advice.

OK, because I'm so new to all of this please don't laugh at my question. Embarassed

What do you need to do to your car in order to put larger wheels on? I'm guessing that bigger diameter wheels will mess with your speedo. Confused

Thanks

What you do when you fit larger diameter wheels is to fit lower profile tyres. What you effectively achieve is the same overall rolling diameter and therefore you minimise the effect of the change on your speedo.

best way to find out is put ur old wheel with the tyre still on the rim next to the new wheel and tyre see if there is any diamter hiegt difference if there is any difference wel then ur speedo will be out.
