ur a bit ambitious if ur hoping to blow away a lancer gsr there is basically two options.... 18RG for budget, and 1G-GTE if ur serious about stonk and 1jz if ur just a nut case heheh
21rc isnt much of a bed for rnd i think, so go for a newer engine as a base.
Cheers

Am i out of line by saying this????

FWIW not all GSR's are turbo... late 80's/early 90's Lancers were available as GSR's but with an atmo engine. You don't see many around though.
As cool as the 4A-GZE can be, putting a 1.6 litre engine in an RA60 is a dim idea. It's a medium size car, so don't go putting a small engine in it!

AFAIK, Evo Is and IIs were non-turbo. It was only from the Evo III that they had turbos.
A 4A-GZE is a waste of time and money since it would probably cost more to install than a 1G-GTE (do any 4A-GZEs come RWD?). There were AA60s though that came out with 4A-GEs...
If you're in the US though, a 1G-GTE probably isn't a good idea due to the fact that you can't find them... Getting parts would be a nightmare.
And for your question about what a 1G-GTE chops, I estimate my car to do about a mid 14 second quarter...

im pretty much leaning on a 1g-gte like nark... the money isnt really an issue cause im gonna get a loan anyways...
wut does a 1g-gte engine come out of i thought it was a supra.. but they have 2jzgte or sumthing like that dont they??
anyways to all the non smart ass's out there like u legends who replied without being a smart ass.. my options so far i think are these engines i just wanted to know the ROUGH price and power ratings of the engines..
1) 18RG sum1 suggested this to me b4... 2) a 1g-gte 3) 1jz-gte but this is suposed to be radical and not for the light budgeted
any other engines do u guys recommend?? sorri if im annoying but i m pretty busy at the moment with cars, women, finding work and family issues... so forgive me if i didnt read the post that gives me all the answers i need... i just though i would ask here and i could just check my hotmail if i got replies!
thanx all!!!!!!
hope to hear from uz asap!!!

The 1G-GTE came in the GZ20 Soarer and the GA70 Supra.
18R-G is a good option if you want to beat 100kW Secas and early model GSRs.
Another option is the 3T-GTEU. 1.8L 4 cyl turbo.
There is one more engine that you didn't list. The 3S-GTE. 2.0L 4 cyl turbo. It is IMHO the best engine that you can swap into an RA60. It produces the power and doesn't ruin the handling like a 1JZ would. The 3S-GTE swap is hideously expensive though.
Where are you? The US? If you're in the US and money isn't an issue, then go the 3S-GTE. If it is an issue, then go the 18R-G or 3T-GTE. If you're in Australia, then go the 1G-GTE.

i was quoted about $8800 for a 3S-GTE, that's them installing the engine and everything and doing none of the work yourself. In my opinion, it's a bit too much to spend on an old car.

$8800 is an incredible price dude!!! A 1G-GTE swap will cost you around that price with no where near the fabrication and stuffing around involved!!!

Forgive my ignorance dudes, but what makes the 3SGTE swap so hard? I've never looked into it so I dont know. I'd imagine it had to do with the manifolds and stuff being suited to FWD?
All Evo Lancers were turbocharged, they only made just over 200hp in their first incarnation though.
The earlier Lancer GSR's you are talking about came with FWD and a 1.6l NA engine.
I agree totally with what Nark has said on the engine choices though!

RWD 3S-GTE swap

Dude, just about everything has to be fabricated...
custom inlet manifold custom exhaust manifold dizzy hits the firewall so you have to 1) use an after market computer, 2) figure something out if you want to retain the dizzy custom mounts flywheel problems a few niggly piping problems too

How would doing a 1GGTE swap cost 8800? Not even you paid that much Nark!

It's quite easy dude. Mine cost over $7k as it was. Depending upon the labour and other problems, it could easily top out to $8800...
A 3S-GTE would probably cost you around that much if you did everything yourself though...

Suppose so, most of my estimates I'd made with me and friends doing the bulk of the work. Still...best bet would be to find someone who has a 3SGTE in a RWD format and copy some of the things they have done...
...now where did Kangz get to?
