I'd be interested to know this also, as I have a T18, and always hear (second hand of course) that the floorpan is supposed to be near identical.
If you are interested to compare parts, send me whatever details you have (diff widths, mounting points etc) from your AE86, & I'll measure up the same on my T18

Funny you should ask...
I just scrounged a tail-shaft off a T18 for my AE86 to enable me to install my disc brake rear end. (It's some 15mm shorter and you'll need that.)
The AE86 - the only rear drive version of the new release of Corollas in 1983 - was based on the T18 platform so the floorplan is essentially the same for the T18 and the AE86.
The diff is bigger and the same as the Jap spec disc brake for the AE86 (incidentally the same once again as the TE71 Levin).
Front brakes should be the same, but they're not vented discs, just like the poor old Aus spec AE86s.
The gearbox is an earlier T version I understand but don't quote me on that.
Oh, don't try to fit the doors to an AE86. They won't go.

finally theres a use for T18's
so the T18 diff is like the ae86 jap spec? crazy
So would that mean to fit the T18 diff onto an ae86 youd need the T18 shorter tailshaft also?

Is there any difference in length of the diff? How wide is it anyway (wheel mounting face to wheel mounting face)?

30mm wider ive heard
mounting points is something im not sure about.. but i intend to find out
going to a wreaker, have one lined up to buy this weekend for $75 for the complete drum to drum rear with centre.
bargain! with warrenty too
then.. my TRD 2 way LSD bolts into that and then eventually i'll adapt disk brakes!

Sure there is
it will be coming with a special custom NSD (no slip diff) courtisy of a MIG welder
but yeah... if your free sat morning u can come with me to the wreaker if u like... they have 4 T18 rears along with a heap of other rolla parts,,.. bring your tape measure!

Simon: With the cost and/or hassle involved of getting the AE86 diff to actually fit the KE35 I might as well weld my own up if I wanted a special NSD I think I know which wreckers you're going to too I might be interested in coming along, but can't confirm just yet.

I have a T18 diff sitting here.
Width, drum face to drum face is 1410 mm
what's the sprinna width?

So just asking reading all the posts will it fit? and how easy is this t18 diff to find and will my normal sprinter wheels fit on it and also can an lsd fit? Also how much would it cost to change from drums to disc?
