If thats the case, what does that make my engine, 210hp? Its a "Gen2", it has the green injectors, but the yellow ECU plugs, and the air/air cooler....

So what would be the easiest way to find out if it is the 210hp model over the phone (engine in QLD me in Tassie ) and he doesn't know the year(thinks 88-89 but not sure).

Air to Air Intercooler (210hp moddel)?

What else would tell me apart from the ecu connectors and injectors?

I need to know by early today..

Any help would be great.
Cheers,
Nick

I think what people generally refer to as the 185hp is the Gen1 whilst the 210hp version is the Gen2.
That's my observations based on the dyno outputs.

Gen1 ~ 97kW (130hp)
Gen2 ~ 110kW (147hp)
Gen3 ~ 125kW (168hp)

From what I've seen, the Gen2 and Gen3 are visually indistinguishable.

So you can't really look at the pic and say whether it's a Gen2 or Gen3.

All 1G-GTEs have the raised bit in the rocker cover for the breather line (but the Gen1 oil cap is actually at the front and not on that raised section).

Might pay to do a search. I wrote a looooong reply to a similar question several moths ago which set out a lot of the differences. Easy to pick gen 3 from gen 2 is that the big plug for the computer has 26 pins against 24 for the gen 2 and the gen 3 does not have an injector balast resister.

As this issue comes up all the time maybe if someone finds my response they might like to get it put up as a tech. article.

Bit hard to tell, but the one in the photo looks like a gen 2 - the TPS for the gen 2 and gen 3 is different.
