i read in old Hot 4's that GT4 gearing in ST185 was not good for 1/4 mile and only managed 15's but the guy swapped out to a ST205 gearbox and diffs and took a second off.

Heh hot4s ;p Dont their stickers make your car go faster?
Well the reason st185's are doing quater miles in the 15 second bracket is because boost is limited to 6psi in 1st and 2nd...
And there isnt anything wrong with the gearing ;p My grp a gt4 was in doing mid/high 13's with very little work. 3 1/2" Downpipe + std exhaust, K&N Filter, No boost limits in 1st and 2nd... Boost was at about 10psi. Oh and the grp a's have a 3.9 final gear as opposed to a 4.1 in the std models.
If you want your gt4 to go faster then do the usual ;p 3" Zorst, 13-14psi boost w/ high flowed turbo, cold air setup and a front mount ic would helpa lot too... 13's would be easy as...

necros is right on the money - And a decent launch helps ALOT - a few more PSI of boost - aftermarket ECU - and some good tyres on that - would see it into the mid/high 12's
the 205 GB makes the car defiantly zippier - over the box mine has - though for top speed - the long gears of the standard 185 Gt4 would see it outpacing the others in the end ! ( i think )
also removing some of the piggyness of the 185 helps - Start with the front bumper - - swap that to the grp A spec bumper - and the alum mounting bar instead of the chunky plastic standard one and steel mounting bar andyoull see it shed a few pounds over the nose ..
