GA70 Supra 5 Speed - 4wd? Tue, 05 August 2003 07:34 Go to next message
Will the hilux transfercase bolt onto the 5 speed out of a GA70 supra to make it 4wd? I doubt it but does anyone know if it will?

Cheers,
Nick

I don't know a great deal about the subject, but some 4WD hiluxes (maybe all???) use a W box, therefore stuff the stock 1g bellhousing onto the front of it and you're set Evil or Very Mad

Yes G52 and W55+ boxes share the same front bolt pattern (g52's apparently have double syncros too!)

Way to go! You're about to turn one of Japan's best sports marques into an understeering pig. Shocked

Not to mention the extra weight.

Spend your money on a real engine or some real tyres and you won't need 4WD.

I think you'll find he's putting a 1G into a 4WD Hilux, not trying to make a 4WD Supra.

Maybe he's not turning it into anything, maybe he's just trying to integrate his engine into his current driveline...

Thanks for the replys.

Good to hear that the G52 and the W55+ share the same bolt pattern. (Thanks Allen)

I am not making a 4wd supra so dont worry about that. Rolling Eyes

Norbie was close... I am putting the 1GGTE engine into a SWB Toyota Landcruiser Bundera (Hilux running gear with SWB Landcruiser Body).

Engine arrives today!!

Cheers,
Nick

It's good to see someone not doing the usual V8 conversion on one of these.
Should make it go like a cut snake. Evil or Very Mad

*remove foot from mouth*

All too quick to criticise.

My apologies. I'm just getting sick of people dreaming up stupid plans that will never happen, and am to the point now where I generally need some convincing before I waste my time.

A 1G in a hilux is a good idea, has been done before... unsure about 4WD though. Will be interested to see the results.
