basicaly they weld the cams up, then regrind them, so it doesn't matter what the lift or duration is

I heard somewhere?? that bigger cams on the stock ECU wasn't much of a gain? Does anyone know anything about that?

You can't do anything too dramatic with cams on a standard ECU because it won't be able to run it. It'll prolly run too lean, and I heard there is some other issue with it too.

good luck getting camtech to stellite grind a set of 4age cams for $100
maybe add a zero
but you gotta realise anyway - adding a cam does one thing, gives power at higher rpm (except for the lift which is across the band), and unless youve done exhaustive mods to the engine to let it rev above its factory redline, youre just asking for trouble.
then theres issues with SUB and shim spitting, valve springs, piston clearances etc etc etc
also the ecu will have dramas mainly if the engine is MAP sensored, there are less issues is its an AMF based system. fuelling will become an issue at high rpms, and also if flow is that much increased that the factory fuel map just craps its pants

What he said.
I've fitted HKS 272 cams to my AE92 map sensored and it runs like a bucket of .... Well, not so good. Either too rich at idle or flatspots under acceleration.
Bring on the Motec M4.... then zoooooooooooooooom.
