ATT: MODDED CAR OWNERS

OWNER CERTIFIED MODIFICATIONS ever herd of this ???. Any ways aparently if your model of car eg AE92 has a base model carby with no front sway bars and solid front disk's (pov pack) and a sports model sx/gti you are allowed to change parts over WITH OUT an ENGINEERS CERTIFICATE,say change the brakes over, the alloys, the suspension to run a front sway bar and the motor??? is this true???./ I herd it from a guy at work whom does pink slips. Now my question is did the AE92 4agze corolla come into australia with out being a import as a australian limited edition? if so wouldnt that mean we wouldnt need a engineers certificate ???. IF SO WOULDNT ALL THE AE92 OWNERS WHOM HAVE DONE A GZE CONVERSION NOT NEED A ENGINEERS CERTIFICATE ???. Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think they ever came to australia.
you know alecias ta22 doesnt have an engineers cirtificate but the engine number is on the papers for registration so how does that work? and its a different series engine

go and get a copy of the "Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Modifications" from the RTA. it gives a guide as to what is owner certified or not. you can upgrade to any 'option' fitted to your model car. if it involves brakes, often you may still need a brake test to prove it all works, even if you swap the whole lot over.. but who's gonna know?
you can put on, or add additional/uprated swaybars owner certified.
i'm pretty sure no GZE was sold here  but even so, it's more than just that, there emissions and an "increase in power or displacement more than 15%" which is where they get you....
the COP-LVM is worht the $50 (or so) as it gives a few guidlines, and is the basis of what engineers use 9as well as their experience and own knowledge)

Flem, I've got a copy at the office, and yes it's true, but only applicable to model that have ADR compliance ie model sold here, also it states that you are able to increase your capacity by 15% and don't need an Eng cert. seehttp://rta.nsw.gov.au/dvpr/vss.htm I hope this is the right link, but I do know it's information sheet No 6....
