How the hell does it improve the performance on the car?
Does it add more power, or just protect the engine better?

helps to avoid overheating of the oil (as the name 'oil cooler' implies, this increases the protection that oil gives as it doesnt overheat and thin out
theres some more reasons i'm sure... this is the one i know
