does anyone know what the diff is that comes out od a 2wd 1989 model hilux?? i am after the code ans need to know if it is a rn 25 or rn 27. can anyone help me out??

1989 it would be somewhere up in the RN , YN or LN 70 series .

RN25/27 ran from 1972 to 1977 or thereabouts, the 30 series went from 78 to 84 I think, and yes in 1989, you would have a 70 series Hilux. The ratio could be anything from 4.7, 4.8 to 4.9, but should be a G series diff. If the axle is off the car, pull the centre of the diff out, and count the teeth on the pinion and on the crown wheel. Divide the second by the first and you have your ratio, eg. crown has 44 teeth, pinion 9 teeth, 4.888 ratio.

does anyone know what the width of this diff is?? around 1400mm??
it has 4.3 ratio and lsd. only asking the width because i dont have it in my sight at the moment.

R/LN30 axles are 1420mm, I think R/LN70's are the same.
RN25's are 1370mm face to face.
