Custom Plates and Licensing in NSW Tue, 12 August 2003 04:09 Go to next message
hey guys

say i wanna get custom plates of AE86II
in that black on white style

i checked the RTA site and it says total annual fee is $389
whats this mean? is this the only cost?

can you register and put premium plates on it when rego'ing the car
or do you need to get a hxb-002 or somethign first and then put your named ones on??

ill be registering my car soon and i wanna find out costs of >>

1. stock ae86 registration yearly for under 25's?
2. premium plate cost?
3. NSW licensing cost? (i have a QLD liscense and need a NSW one, i spose id be just out of my opens, so green P's?)

cheers boys

rego will be around $200 from the rta, and $500 from the insurance company (rough estimates)

custom plates cost you a certain amount *per year* unless they conform to standard types (which are listed on the rta site)

e.g. IJZ 25T would only be a one off cost, but DRAVEN would cost me $389 (or whatever) each year

lisence .. depends if you want a 3 year or 5 year, but about $70 from memory?

yep
$200 for rego
pink slip is a mechanic saying your car is safe.. about $20

blue slip is a more comprehensive version of the pink slip - it's basically your roadworthiness (and you dont need a pink slip in addition to this)

green slip is insurance against you hurting someone else in a car crash, and you have to have this before you can get your registration, and it costs about $500

so all up it costs around $700 a year just for a car on the road.

*then* you start thinking about other insurance, like 3rd party property or comprehensive

nsw is a *really* expensive state insurance wise

i just got some new custom plates

it costs 38 dollars to order them which os making them up

then they roughly estimate how much time is left on yr car rego
and then u get charged that percentage left of time on the amount 389 dollars
my rego runs out in october
so i paid 55 dollars for 2 months for the plates
when i renew my rego i will pay 389 dollars ontop of my normal rego and insurance
but im lucky its all tax deductable

dont take this the wrong way, but geez NSW sucks sometimes, in QLD its a 1 off price then u keep the plates forever, mind u its $2000 for a plate that says "MRDOHC" {NLA}, but u keep it forever

go to www.ppq.com.au, its all so cheap
