Help a newb out Sat, 16 August 2003 17:00 Go to next message
OK, Hi!

I've been doing some searching and reading on the AE86 4AGE RWD Corolla and to my disappointment Australia is too crap to have this model. Even though this [url=http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/4883/chistory.h tml]site[/ur] indicates otherwise.

I want to know of any other cheap RWD car that can, hopefully, be almost as good - I don't think i'll be transplanting engines as far as I can see - maybe some yrs later.

The Celica s205 is abit pricy and not fuel-efficient (AWD)...
Earlier Corollas have RWD from what i understand, but is it comparable to an 4age engine? That qn goes to the Sprinter as well.

Basically, i just want you guys to list me some old/cheap RWD models that comes second to the AE86 4AGE RWD Corolla - no FWD!

That is, i want a car that becomes an extension of myself when it comes to handling.

Thanks Smile

whos saying St205's are not economical - I have the predecessor ( a st185 ) and get great economy out of it - close to 650Km out of a tank cruising and well in excess of 500 in " play mode "

if you want economy - buy a charade

PS youll find most "restored" sprinters these days will have 4ag's in them - much better motor By far then what they came out here with!

you really can't be too picky when it comes to sprinters..

and 2 years difference from the earliest to the latest sprinter makes JACK SHIT difference.
Believe me.

besides.. takumi drives an 83 model Smile

The ae86 is a reliable little car with RWD and it actually looks alright, unlike older cars...So, it is no surprise that I WANT THIS CAR!!!!!

But it looks like i wont be buying a car, since maintaining/repairing a '91 Cressida is bludy costly!

Dudes! I watched Initial D, so what? At least I don't have pictures on my HD Razz

I was only interested in the "drift machine" after reading so much on it on the web. But i have given up on it Sad

and supras are dyno queens. or straight line weapons.
I've yet to see a supra that handles... and likely never will.
even then,a supra will never beat a silvia... Very Happy

letmedrift: give up on sprinters mate. you'll be chasing your tail forever. unless you're willing to go through a LOT of crap, and spend well over $10k to build a decent car.
you're much better off getting something newer, and more common, and starting off from a better position.
sprinters are only for the truly devoted.

Justin...

Go for a Late 84 Corolla AE71 if you can get it. This is the last of the Australian available RWD corollas, and it is heaps easy to mod, Just drop in a 100Kw 4AGE and away you go, If not go further.....Hmmmm TURBO....., Besides looks heaps better that the AE86.

But if you don't want to mod it, they are pretty crap; the standard power plant is pretty weak.

*laughs* Sounds a bit like what I'll be doing to mine next year...Albeit without the 20V (I'll stick with the resident 100KW donk).

Yep, better brakes, stripped interior, wider rims/tyres, better suspension = part time track burner! Laughing
