Anyone know/tried the Whiteline suspension kit for AE86 Sprinters?? They have an on line kit including springs, shocks, swaybars, roll centre adjuster etc.
Wondering if it produces the goods?

I've got the whiteline kit in my ae86, and I'd hafta say I'm happy with it. I think the height's spot on (I prefer something that drives well over the ultimate gangsta low), suspension travel is fine and handling great. The spring/damper rate is about right for street use, being hard enough to grip well but still having enough compliance to stop the car rolling off the edge of a cliff every time you find a wombat sized pothole. In mine I'm using the shocks, bushes and springs from the kit, a KMAC rear swaybar (already had it), whiteline 27mm front swaybar, KMAC strut tops, the strut brace and adjustable panhard rod, as well as roll centre adjusters that white made specially for me (due to ra60 struts). No complaints and high recommended - my only problem is not being able to get the front camber quite right due to the ra60 struts - will fix this.

the whiteline kit does the job for quick street use.
the spring rates and height were chosen partly from how my car went with a couple of different types I bought from them. the RCAs were measured up on my sprinter as well, but for some reason, they ended up making different models to the original type they came up with. easier to get 25mm stock than 30mm I guess.
I plan to sell off my whiteline gear in the next couple of months,as I'll be going to the next level-coil overs.
for those on a budget, and not out to hit the track, the whiteline kit is pretty much perfect IMHO. not the best of course, but good for a start...

Hi Justin
Are you selling both the front and rear springs?
E-mail me with how much you want for them.

they've changed the kit since my car was done,I believe they use a slightly shorter stroke shock now. mine are std stroke koni yellows.
the shocks offered are nasty KYBs,or Koni Yellow rebound adjustables.

To be perfectly honest,I'm not sure as of yet.
I would love to throw a set of TEIN HA's into the car,but they aren't offered in the rates I'm after. the only rate they come in,is about 4 times as stiff as what I want. if I was only going to hit the track,I'd grab them in a heartbeat, but as the car will be doing most of it's duty on the roads,I need to compromise it a bit. I think REVOLVER make a set that are closer to what I want,so I may buy their stuff, but will most likely make a custom set here from celica/crown parts.

fergo,
if you're after something decent for street use, and not rock-hard, try asking around for some TANABE Sustec Street Pro. They're orange in color, and the matched spring and shock rates are quite good for street, and occasional track use. I'm happy with the set on my car. I did change the rear springs to something a bit softer (KING) for better rear traction.
cheers

Zack: are you referring to a coil over generally,or are the tanabe's offered for the AE86 in the model you listed? last time I checked, they didn't have an option for the sprinter, other than normal style springs.
any idea what they're rates are?
Youngy: Currently,I run 200lb/in. in the front, and 170lb/in. in the rear. this works well on the street, but is not ideal in my mind. I plan to soften the rear some, and go a touch harder in the front when I get coil overs. the rates I plan to use a a lot softer than several people I know are using, but I feel a car needs compliance to be used on the road, especially the wonderful excuses for..um,sorry,examples of roads we have here in Sydney.
there are four reasons I want to use a coil-over design strut, and cost myself a lot more money than just getting new std style coils made: *height adjustment *larger choice of coil rates *ability to use adj. tops for front camber setting *to allow the use of a celica donor strut, and gain a stronger stub axle.

fergo--> The Tanabe shock and spring setup consists of a adjustable coil-over front shock, (or available just as an insert), springs supplied of course. The rear is a bolt on shock and a spring that is way too stiff for use on our roads, that's why the KING rear spring. I'll measure up the front coil dimensions and work out the spring rates. I don't think its more than 6kg/mm. Quite a nice ride on the road. Not overly stiff that it jumps and skips over every bump and rut on the street.
Cheers.
