Gt4 Suspension advice needed ! Tue, 19 August 2003 07:28 Go to next message
Hi guys Smile

As some of you would know - id planned to put a whiteline " works " kit thru my gt4 - but its now unlikelky to happen Crying or Very Sad .. just got the quote back and its A hell of a lot more than i thought it was - close to 1000 dollars more than expected - SO

i need some help ..

Im still going to look at the gt4 " club" kit - which comprises of everything the works kit has BAR the shockers , and springs , SO - can anybody suggest a decent set of Shockers - in particular - that i can look at outside of Koni's that are a bit easier on the pocket ..

ive heard of names such as JYB and pedders thrown around - but im not sure on quality .. Im looking for a midrange i guess - something between a Monroe GT gas , and full on Koni adjustables, that will be compatible with lowered springs ( pedders or king progressive springs may be an alternative here ??)

Any help or advice would be appreciated !

Ok - called whiteline AGAIN - and heres the story

i can still buy the handling " club" kit for the gt4 - add their springs - and a set of KYB shockers instead of the koni's and save myself nearly 6oo dollars ..

the koni's were the obvious price hikers - being all fancy and stuff

the JYB alternatives are not adjustable though ..

Has anyone had experience with these or still - suggest any other ways of attacking this problem ?

well that was about as helpful as a boot to the head - thanks Smile

your cuz can take what is left on the springs - ram them up his arse - and use them as springed padding as he's being whored to every dirty old man in kings cross Rolling Eyes maybe they will make his ride more comfortable !

Anyway Smile........

"Oh He's sick, my best friend's cousin's brother's girlfriend saw him at 31 flavours last night ..." Well,I got it anyway Laughing Rolling Eyes
Would avoid any shock in the Monroe brand, I love Boge's once fiddled with, KYB's I''ve found to be a good budget brand, but for my money, I'd save and get the Koni's due to their layman's adjustability. I might have a contact for you with some second hand Koni's and Coilovers if you're interested?!

Ill check out my options - the koni's in the kit - cost me close to 500 dollars more than KYb's ..

thats the dilemma

Wheels and tyres all up are going to set me back 2 grand ..

So to get wheels tyres and susp right - im looking at in excess of 4500 dollars - The joys of buying top of the line ..

lets eee what boge have to offer ..

Have you tried contacting k-mac http://www.k-mac.com.au/
I never used them myself but when I was looking for shocks, they were only ones who could help me get some info for my soarer...

Well ! i may have found a good place to get whiteline gear from

tracjked a place down in Tullamarine - who will sell me the " works " kit - with KYB's instead of koni's for 1300 ! yay - and freight to get it to my door is $12 Smile

Twas $1810 for the works with Koni's

Still both prices are hella cheap compared to other quotes

I had monroe shocks in my car while I was waiting for my KYB's to come from japan and all I can say is that KYB's are bloody awsome in comparison! Far superior handling and comfort. I have heard nothing but good things about KYB either so if you don't want to spend the money on the Koni's then go for KYB's.. very good choice!! Very Happy
