Do I drive a girls car?
|
Tue, 19 August 2003 08:19
|
|
I've noticed this more and more since I put down a deposit on my silver celica, but most celica drivers I've seen around are female. Even lots of older celica's, I would say the majority of them I've seen around are being driven by females. This raises a question, is the celica in fact a girls sports car? Now, as you can prolly guess by my current cars, I love my celica's to death, but it just seems to me that most people that drive them are women.
And don't you rolla boys start, almost every rolla I've seen is driven by a woman, or the driver drives like a woman

I have a friend who told me that her grandma had a car just like mine, and from then on I get told that my car is a girls car.
furthermore, I too, notice lots of older ladies driving the ST162's around...
... should I be worried too?

Yeah I would be worried. The two previous owners of my silver car where females. My black one was from a bloke tho. As a tacker I remember two of my brothers mates having xA2x celica's, too young to remember what type, and I remember another older lady I knew that had an xA2x as well. Probably where I got my old celica bug from.
I just knew someone else would say yes straight out, forgot about the supra boys one of my brothers thinks supra's are nice... for a chicks car, heh

supras are just celicas on steroids - if anythings a supra is a butch lesbians car especially the ma61
so - join the " girls car club !"
actually i see it as more the " cheap reliable and sporty factor " coming into play - this appeals to younger women i guess who dont want to drive excels or some other cheap POS econobox ..
so the girls driving them - are girls with spirit - good on em ! id prefer my missus driving a sportscar than something boring - wouldnt you ?

I loved my celica but its a car that guys think look awsome and girls happen to like also, mostly the old good looking celicas,
like the new celica's are a bit too girly but my RA23 my friends still mention how it was a great car and all girls i had met with it all asked if they could sit in the drivers seat or go for a ride in it, nothing wrong with owning a kick arse old Celica which pulls the chicks too

Chuckles - without powersteering the Supra would be a boat to try and steer .. talk about " man handling "

the steering problems without ps would have something to do (in my case) with 235 rubber.
and I know of at least 2 girls who would love to own my car. (one would kill herself very quickly, but she still wants it)

Actually an MA61 without power steering isn't as difficult as you'd think (mine has 225's). It's only slightly heavier than my RA23!

The newer celica's I see girls driving around in. Hardly ever see the guys in them. All my celica's have been previously owned by males. I have only seen 2 other chicks driving the old celica's. The rest have been males.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as you're not driving an Excel, Barina, Beetle or similar then it's all good.

Now the Celica might be a girls car, in fact considering how many girls I see driving them, it probably is, but you can make that a good thing.
You see next time you are at the lights next to some "fully sik bro" Exa or the like, here is what you do. You blow him away (cause we all know and Exa is just another word for Celica fodder) and then when he pulls up to you next lights you wind down your window, put you sunnies up, give him a smug smile, and tell him him that he just got his butt whipped by a GIRLS CAR!!!! Mwahahahahahahahaha

Almost all RWD Celicas I see are driven by men. Just a few have been driven by women, with a higher percentage driving the A6 Celicas than the previous two generations.
Once the Celica went FWD, it was aimed at women, especially the last three generations.
Here's a sad fact for you, the current Celica was going to be RWD until Toyota did their market research and found that women had a perception that RWD is dangerous. So back to FWD it went.
It'd be such a nice car if it was RWD.

Lots of later model Celica's are driven by women - but who really cares? If you've a bloke with a Celica just be glad it attracts women Mainly because they think the Celica is fun and really sporty (hence the driver is too!)
A lot of Soarers get around with middle aged men and women in them....but does that mean they are a Granpa car? (well, yes it does )
Re: power steering, my Ma70 Supra lost power steering due to faulty pump and I had to drive it for a week until I could get another one. It was the Arnie Schwartznegger training school for sure! I'm just glad my arms didn't fall off...

My car had only one owner before me and she was a 60 year old grandma, but yeh i mainly think that generations 5 and 6 and even the new 7th gen are more female cars then the older generations. But dont get me wrong i still like all those generations. especially the 5th.

Heheh, I've tried steering an MA70 without P/S, and that was quite a struggle to say the least. A combination of wide tyres, lots of weight and a quick steering ratio makes power assistance a necessity in those cars!

Somewhere I read that the new Celica's advertising campaign was pitched entirely to the female demographic. Though all the RWD Celies I see are driven by young guys ... if that makes you feel better

Obviously not a Real Man - I'm struggling with the MA-61 sans power steering & 225s. I break out into a sweat doing the 8 point turns.

It is in fact a girly hairdresser's sissy mobile. Mis-guided Celica driving members of this club have been in denial for too long - they have claimed that Corollas are girl's cars in an effort to take the heat off their own "skirt wearing, purse carrying" antics.
GT Man you have made a brilliant observation and have clearly seen the truth - you are truly in a position to grow from such revelations. Come walk in the light.
Do not let the Celica drivers bring you back to their level of hypocrisy.
There will be much rejoicing in heaven tonight, the truth has been spoken.

Don't worry if you drive a girls car. Think of it this way, if you constantly see girls driving these cars, then in theory, if you drive that car, all the girls on the street will be checking you/car out, either way you win, and in no time you'll be:

Hi,
There is a chick driving a RA23 in Hobart that has 15s or 16s, with a roll cage and no back seats. She's not half bad either!
My ex loved my little red TA22 (black interior), which was quite advantageous to me Four girls have enjoyed the privelege of my bonnet...
My car was owned by a lady for the first 20 years of its life, then by my brothers best friends Dad (mid-life crisis), then me.
I'd rather be driving a "girls" car, than a Falcodore!!!
Cheers,
Justin
