Hello again, have a question on the above, Cressida GX60 converted to 1G-GTE 3rd gen. About 2-3 days ago noticed that the fuel consumption has doubled and i'm getting worried. Here's what's been done.

Stock Engine - Intercooler stock,
BOV , Lightened Flywheel, Stock boost, no electronic extras i.e. SAFC Boost controller etc.

Things i've noticed - SOMETIMES puff of white smoke when i start, othertimes ok. There's are a a few more sockest and wires that need to be connected (3-4 maybe). And when i try to floor it..SOMETIMES..feels like there's fuel starvation occuring..struggles then the boost comes on..LAG then WRoooom..

Even in normal SUNDAY drivers condition...still seems pretty high ?...Could a leak in the piping/intercooler be the cause..

OH also my exhaust is 3 inch all the way..with a 3inch muffler at the end. NO centre resonators.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

cheers

Did the problem start after you installed the BOV?

Nope, BOV was off the engine itself from the half cut. SO just swapped everything..from the half cut to my cressie. Was running fine until 2 days ago.

that "fuel starvation" problem you're describing could also be caused by it boggin down under too much fuel, which would also explain the massive fuel usage.

also, a 3" exhaust all the way thru will mean you're actually running higher than stock boost

What should i do then ? , Also noticed another thing, as i floor the pedal and the boost just kicks in..there's a sort of a 'tug' just a second..and than evens out.

cheers

This is what happened to my old 1G-GTEU, white smoke on start up that eventually went away after driving, then few months later same white smoke on start up then poured out smoke on acceleration. Turned out to have low compression, massive amount of lag, and oil throughout the intake.

I cut the engine loose and put a 1JZ in it. It is fixable though.

The oil in the intake i suppose the oil catch will take care of that. Yesterday i pulled the fuse for the ECU, and after a while i started and the motor wound up and then started to 'readjust' itself with the fluctuating RPM higggg.lowwww until it settlesd.
Last night tried again. seemed to have temporarily solved the prob..but will have to wait and see.

i have simaler simptons,i got the white smoke, oil in intake, but seems to be ok on fuel though,i had low compression in one of the cylinders got a new headgasket mech said it seemed to have brought the compression back up, but this was before all of this smoke and oil started,i also get on start up it revs high and drops down low and it goes up and down up and down until the engines warm also the engine is runnin mega rich with fuel smell coming from the white smoke.

I wonder if adjusting the Co would help ?...But like i mentioned earlier...resetting the ECU seems to have helped.

I used to get that up/down idle and then it would even out. it used to do it after every time u touched the acc. and let it go back to idle.

Turned out to be low fuel press. Now it runs SWEET!
