In the picture you have above, the spacers seem a really bad idea as there is no thread above the nut!!
If yours would end up with the same problem after fitting spacers, then dont do it.
A better way to go would be a plate that would sit between the brace and the top of the suspension tower, that way the load is spread across the whole tower, not just three points.
Why are the spacers needed in this case?

there is excess thread in my case...
i'm using JIC coilovers with elongated thread rods.
So is the spacer readily available or what? Are they expensive?

The spacers appear to be nothing more than big washers. You should be able to get them just about anywhere.

Thanks.
Can anyone enlighten me whether a wheel alignment is needed after the fitting of the strut brace?
I read somewhere that it should not be necessary... but am not sure.
By the way, if that's not the case, wouldn't an alignment be needed when I do my 100K servicing in about 2Ks...?(changing the water pump and timing belt...etc)

i confirmed with the suspension place that wheel alignment is not necessary...
but they don't have spacers... i feel weird to use washers from a hardware shop...

if i can re-ask the question, why do you need spacers?
there is nothing wrong with using washers, at least nothing more wrong than using any kind of spacer.
unless you have a clearence issue, you would be better off bolting the strut brace hard up agaunst the strut tower top to distrubute the load over a larger area.
if you are wearing out tyres, or your car is tracking funny, then you need an alignment.

the brace needs about an inch to clear the intake manifold.
so no problem using washers?
the car has been 4-wheel aligned by pedders last month...
and yes, alignment is not needed, i checked with pedders.

id be VERY hesitant to space a strut brace 1 inch off the pillar! cant you just get a) one that fits properly, or b) get your existing one rebent and tempered??
otherwise youre going to have a lot of force (torque) being experienced over the length of 1 inch of bolt - and as we all know, bolts are designed for tensile strength, not lateral forces at a distance...

actually i was over-exgerating abit when i said 1 inch... but yeah, the intake will touch the brace if there was no spacer.
on this site its stated that its very common in the US, so i am not really sure what to do...

But other than the spacers, under it would not be the pillar right? I do have some kind of aftermarket "pillow" support of some sort... not sure what its called. but it came with my JIC coilovers...

I have a suggestion for you. Why not use the existing nuts to bolt the struts into the towers like a standard installation. Then put your strut bar on top of those nuts (preferably with washers between bar and nuts) then put another nut and washer on top of each strut thread to attach the bar. This should give you an adjustable height depending on the number of washers used, a secure strut and the nut/washer combination will give added strength to the threads attaching the bar. BTW it seems to me that just using washers will effectively give you larger diameter strut threads to take the lateral load anyway. Once you tighten the nuts properly the nut washer combo effectively becomes one because of the frictional forces anyway. If this is for street driving, washers should do the trick.
