What to do with my AE82 ?

Current bigport 4AGE is up for a bit of work (oil leaks, gearbox, timing belt etc)..
I have a few solutions in mind. Which would you think would be better for a bit more power and to make this car last me for the next few years...
- Rebuild current 4AGE with 20V g/box.
- Put in 20V silvertop & box. Seems simple enough assuming all i need is the engine, ECU, loom and gearbox ? Is say under $2k a realistic assumption of engine/ecu/gbox and transplant ?
Ive already decided against GZE as is not a simple 'bolt-in' job as the 20V in an AE82.
Cheers guys !

I got a silver top front cut for jusy over $2k, which also gives me power steering, and a new a/c system and bigger front brakes
if its an every day car, this is a nice way to go. If you want power, the GZE with a turbois the bomb, or even a 3SGTE if you feel insane.
My money is on the 20v

Well I would love the power of the GZE but it seems a bit more expensive option and the cross-member has to be modified in order to fit the GZE box in a AE82 ive heard.
If I cannot source a front-cut is just the engine and ECU okay ? I mean the standard 4AGE power steering, cooling, air box, a/c systems will fit fine ?

Wiring I am going to attempt myself with a wiring diagram. As for the install I have some friends so shouldnt be too bad.
Sigh now thinking about the 20V makes me think to spend a bit extra to get the GZE heheh doh !
Anyone know what the exact modification is you need to do to put a GZE in an AE82 ?

Ok seems like the parts I will need are....
20V Silvertop Engine
ECU & Loom
20V 5-Spd Gearbox
20V Driveshafts
20V Axles
Im going to try rebuild the engine myself, before it goes into the car.
Next question...is that all I will need ? Where is the best place to source these parts in Sydney ? (I presume SSS Auto is best place for the engine)

hate to say, there not! The standard box from the AE82 I did was a little wider than the 20V box I was fitting and only at the point where it counted.. where the front mount bolts to the gearbox!! If you used the I tried AE92 mounts, the AE82 and 20V ones, in the end I fabricated a new ones. I feel it would of been easier using the AE82 box, but the 20V has much better gearing...

No prob's here, it all bolted up to the existing existing hubs and the engine mounts, you have to use the AE82 stuff.

Thanks Johnny, what a hassle, everyone is saying the 20V box fits fine. Hmm fabricating mounts geez...
So the driveshafts, axles etc are all good to bolt on ?
Anything else can you think of that is necessary to get or know ?

Johnny apparently the 20V box bolts straight up to factory mounts...perhaps you had the GZE box by mistake ?

Negative... I've got that many different boxes for
<--- this car that I know what and how big and heavy a GZE LSD box is .
I know now that many people say this and that about things, but come crunch time they've been wrong. I was under the same opinion the first until I had the engine sitting in the bay and we started to bolt the X-member in, and something just didn't look right! That's when I had to pull it all out and start measuring and having a closer look at what was going on.... Gearbox was then taken off the engines and sat side by side, that's when reality hit's, suttle little difference that make a seemly easy job a Nightmare!!
