strongest gearbox for supercharged 2T Fri, 22 August 2003 04:21 Go to next message
I've just dusted off a 2T motor that I used in an open wheeler back in the 80's. Its got a big norman type blower, 3 SU's running methanol and puts out around 280 - 300 hp at 20lbs boost. I am going to build a clubman type hillclimb car to put it in and so will need to bolt / adapt a 4 or 5 speed to it. Can you guys tell me if there are any other options apart from the standard alloy case gearbox...ie can a supra box be adapted easily etc.
The car will only weigh around 450 kgs so the alloy type may last???

thanks, kevin.

You need a w58 or a w55 gearbox. can be found in an xA60 celica i think. You will need a bell housing to suit a T serries motor so look for a 3tgt bellhousing I have been told a 1gg bellhousing may fit? some one will confirm. shouldn't cost you more than $500 to do without the clutch.
