HELP!!!
URGENT!!!
I just installed a Nevo oversized 175mm crank pulley onto a 4agze AE101 FWD. The crank pulley, new s/c idler pulley went on without dramas.
But......
The water pump pulley fouls (just touches and grinds the new crank pulley)!!!
I have not dared turning on the motor and only turned the crank pulley by hand. It fouls the water pump pulley hence, it turns only a bit.
I have since removed the water pump pulley to examine it.
I am thinking of skimming the outer diameter of the water pump pulley by 1-2mm to see if it clears the crank pulley.
Im not to concerned with the belt coming off as its a 5 ribbed one. So should be okay.
I compared it with a 4AGE bigport one and its the same.

What you guys think ????????
Ever had this problem?

have heard of the problem but it was years ago and my brain is fuzzy...
you're not the only one to have the prob tho.... if you can get a replacement water pump pulley easily then have a go at turning it down, as you say a few mm will be fine.

hmm, so your alternator and water pump are oversped?

I guess it will. Seeing the crank pulley is a fair bit larger.

ANyone else who has installed a NEVO???

Im not 100% sure if your having the same problem, but when my bros got his, It grinded the face of the pulley about 5mm from the outside all the way around. You should of got 2 washers in the kit. One of these goes behind one of the pulley's to move it out a fraction so it clears. Hope this helps

it works... Sat, 23 August 2003 00:22 Go to previous messageGo to next message
It works..

I went to a machinist and lathed one rib side
(larger dia.) of the water pump pulley so its the same as the other side. Now seems to clear it.

Havent started the car yet, but by turning it by hand it is ok so far. =]

i know some kits when u fit new crank pulley then they supply u with a smaller water pump pulley

depends what kit u buy
they cost bout 500 bucks i think and that is u give them yr old pulleys and they give u the new ones for more boost

they give you a smaller idle pulley for tensioning the belt.
you dont really want to put a smaller water pump pulley on as it will spin the water pump even quicker and then you could have cavatation issues.
