Can all who know for certain, let me know the similarities and differnces between the two engines please, no need to state the blindingly obvious re turbos and manifolds, after internal differences more so please. Particularly:
Sump
Oil Pump
Block
Crank and rods
Heads
Pistons: Yes I realise the compression differences, but more as to their constuction and tolerances to being worked?, And any other handy bits of info between the two?
Ta!

All JZ series sumps are interchangeable.
Won't comment on the oil pumps. All I can say is that the bodies look similar, the manual specifies different working clearances and lists different working pressures (this of course may be related to the oil squirters).
Block is identical except for oil squirters in the GTE.
Crank and rods identical.
Many differences between the heads. Suffice to say that the TT manifolds won't bolt up to the GE head. Valve sizes are identical. Ports different. Flows are probably different.
Pistons: yep they're different. With the NA you could deck the block and pistons to increase compression, but you do so at your own peril. The outer edge of the piston is raised and quite thick so you could take some material off there.
