I know you said besides, but the haynes books tend to be pretty good. they cover all the possibilities when they go into engine details

I have the haynes book in question iand it is ok although it can be confusing as to which model they are talking about in some sections
For example, when I first got my car I had to ring the previous owner for the location of the dipstick as this was not shown for the 5ME

Looks like in the 3 years of the old post, I now got an official Toyota 5M-E workshop manuals with EFI suppliment which was handy when I got the engine rebulit to factory specification 
Oh well... History just reappeared...
