Convince me - may be able to get cheap bigport (please read)

Ok everyone, i have been on the lookout for an engine for my sprinter for quite a while, please give me a hand here.
The plan has always been to get a 100kw engine and use that, because it is "better" than the bigport.
This way, i could eventually turbo it by just getting ZE pistons, as AFIK everything else is the same.
Thing is, i may be able to get a bigport from an AE82 at a price too good to refuse (i am fairly certain it was MAP, but it was dark when i looked at it).
I have heard from varuious sources that the power difference between the two engines is negligable in the real world,
And i could always do a head/inlet manifold swap (to smallport) further down the road anyway, keeping the higher lift bigport cams (although maybeye this isnt such a hot idea)
this means i will have an engine with lighter internals, and if i ever do the turb thing, which wont be 4 ages anyway, i will just get a ZE short motor, which wont cost much more than original pistons anyway.
All help and comments are welcome, im sure that having ANY kind of 4AGE is better than the 4AC.

the early 86kw type motors have 40mm crank journals whereas the later 100kw type have 42mm. the 86kw (well depends) if you talk about the RWD type, has a 3 rib block but the 86kw MR2 type has a 7 rib block. all 100kw motors have 7 rib blocks plus oil squirters to cool the gudgeons.
plenty of people have used the 3 rib/7 rib no oil squirters for turbocharging with no issues FYi.
14 kw from the early to the late, well, i've never driven an 86kw in good nick, and, the difference to the 100kw i don't think there would be much in it personally.

thanks grega, if i was ever to turbo i would buy a short 4AGZE id say, i think i will pick this one up when/if i can, even if it has a fair few miles on it (should have checked, and will definately try to drive the car before he pulls the engine out)

if your not going to go turbo for ages anyway just get the cheap motor and stick it in for the time being, it is just so much better than the 4ac.
I faced same problem as I wanted gze then a good deal came up so I took it for the 4age. It would of taken me that much longer to do the gze that im glad I went ge, and now working on the turboing part a year and a half later.
Definatly worth it for the time being.
The engines are that easy to change over you might as well.
