Are the bottoms of the AE86 and TA22 struts the same? Basically I want to know if RCA's to suit the AE86 will fit the TA22! Anyone know?
Thanks

Dont think so because to do the hiux brake conversion you need the corona steering arms on the ta22 but not on the sprinter. If you have a late ta22 you might be lucky. the bolt spacing for sprinter steering arms is 85mm

I'm 95% sure they use a different ball joint. so will not match.
if your looking for bolt in struts for a ta22 then go to a parts shop and check the suspension part number book to see what struts have the same lower ball joint and tie rods.
i think from memory that a couple of corona strut types are your best bet.

They stand for roll centre adjuster. It is a spacer to move the bottom arm back to its original angle with the road. This returns the roll centre to the original position. The roll centre is the imaginary point where the car rotates. Sorry. They fit between the steering arm and the bottom of the strut. Check hiaa's site http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~turbo86/photo/coil_o ver/dcp_1765s.jpg there is a great picture.

It bolts the steering arm and then bolts to the strut a few mm further outwards. The same a adjustable strut tops. I just had a look on whitelines yahoo.groups site http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/whiteline/mess age/2007 they reckon they will fit but i think it will depend if you have an update model or not. Some ta22 have the same panhard bushes as sprinters some dont and Nolathane dont know this. Sorry just found this difference last couple of weeks. Anyway the only way to be sure would be to measure your own car.

i have a 1974 TA22, don't know if that is considered a "late model" or not. it has km/h spedo and non adjustable seat belts if that helps at all...
anyway, i have XT130 struts on the front of my TA22 and i guarantee that they fit. i also ahve a set of RCA's, yet to be installed, but the are off an AE86. so the way i see it is that if the XT130 strut fits my TA22 and apparantly fit an AE86 also, then the RCA's will fit too.
if you don't believe me, look at the photos on the site, the link is below...

So where to get some RCA's locally? Also am I best off getting offset ones? I'll be using adjustable strut tops as well!

If we can get some neg camber ones made i would be in on them. Mabye Alloy Race could make some. They dont have any trouble making flywheels or throttlebodies. If i get time during the week il go and see them.

Well I'll be needing some large spacers something like 45mm minimum!

why do you need such a big spacer... are you talking about the height of the roll centre adjuster?

Yeah i'm talking about the RCA. The reason for being so big is because the car will be lowered aswell as having spacers between the crossmember and chassis!

wont that make the control arm very low to the ground, making clearance a problem, ie 100mm minimum...
