From memory those GX60 discs are very similar to some more readily available Tarago discs.....

Quote: | Im not quite clear on why the strut needs to be changed? Can the discs, calipers, etc just be swapped over from a cressida?
|
I used the whole strut as i deemed it easier to cange a steering arm, suspension components and a brake line compared to fabricating a new plate for the calipers and attempting to get the rotor to fit on the stock axle. I never tried to just swap them over so if you want to try go for it.

making an educated guess the RA60? celica/supra will fit as well, it has similar dimensions to the cressida I believe in terms of the steering arm etc.

Ok well might go for changing the whole strut then aswell, dont want to get things fabricated.
Would changing the strut effect the ride height? Plan to keep the stock springs and use those on cressida struts.

It's true that the local MX62 cressida only has the 248x18mm brakes.... here in australia we weren't so lucky to get the GA60 cressida with its big brakes.
However, some RA65's, and MA61's have a slightly larger and thicker disc than the MX62, and predominantly the same strut.
Best way to compare - self serve auto wreckers. Pull a coupla struts and do some dummy swaps

Toymods is actually a lot more than just an internet forum. We are a car club, a community, and a haven for sharing tech info.
go to http://www.toymods.org.au and have a look at what we do other than just an internet forum

yes it may alter your ride and also your shock absorber working lengths.
you will need to measure the two struts to determine the lengths and either adjust your spring for ride hight and/or change the shock to a shorter stroke (if the replacement is longer) or cut and shorten the top of the new strut to the correct length.
either way its all pretty simple stuff

ok, time to revive a long dead thread!
Where did you get you ga60 struts (if you got them) and how much were they! Can you think of a better upgrade for a mx62 cressida?
Cheers

I chanced on them at a now closed wreckers, the car was an import and they are not readily available in OZ. maybe a JZX soarer would be the next best option, im sure youd find a set at an importers if you tried

Hey guys i have done this upgrade (MX-62) onto a AE-71. I did what it says on the tech article, swapped the whole strut put AE-71 springs+stut tops on ST141 steering arms ADJ strut tops for fine tuning. It would have to be the best bang for buck thing i have done. $60 a side for struts complete $10 for steering arms
If u want any info just ask me
