The early European Spec 5MGEs had an oil cooler. My car ('82 Euro spec) has one & the parts car I am lookig at getting should have one (haven't checked).

Just buy a new one, they are pretty cheap and easier than find one off an old car that is half blocked with old oil.
That way you get one the right size!!

I used a B&M oil cooler on my 1J.Its big enough for any street car. It cost $150 plus fittings from star performance in Five Dock, Sydney. They are apparently used on 1000hp drag cars and are ok for them.
I will send you a picture if you want.

get the biggest cooler you can fit, so then you can have a lot of cooling if you need it. you can regulate the temp by using ducting and temp switched fans, or even the mocal/permacool oil thermostat. full flow will give you better cooling than partial flow. basically biggest you can fit/afford, or the smallest that will keep oil temps constant.
have a look at the sizes used on things like sports sedans and NASCARS and go down from there.. there were quite a few ex-nascar type coolers on US Ebay a while back for between US$50-100 (but US$30 postage)

Umm, have you thought that a 5MGE is only 200cc smaller than the 7M ?
