icon5.gif  Upgrades? Tue, 26 August 2003 03:30 Go to next message
This is my 1st post here (nervous), F#ck how do u use these smileys?
Anyway i needed 2 know if its possible 2 chuck a small turbo on a 3s-fe, i know it sounds stupid and probably isn't possible 'cos it's such a weak engine, and probably isn't worth it, but i just got extractors and exhaust done to my 88" celica, and need 2 know what to do next? i need more power!!!
If the turbo is a no goer, then how bout superchargin it, cos it be crazy if it were possible except id probably need a new bonnet to fit it in, if not then id have 2 save to get a 3s-gte, which might not be worth it 4 a fwd, but it be different.
Any suggestions would be great

how much are you looking to spend ..

you could mortgae your house and put in a 3sgte - but youd probably be better off buying a gt4 stock - or you could swap the 3sfe to a 3sge non turbo and have fun with that ..

its not overly hard to turbo the 3s-fe, i'm in the process of doing it (once i get all the parts together). take a look at this site, its for a camry, but still a 3s-fe:

http://www.qnet.com/~bgriffey/

he uses a T3, but you can use the ct-26 (as i am) because it bolts straight onto the manifold. if you are after big power, and want to spend lots, do the 3s-gte swap, the engine mounts should be roughly the same.

I don't know how much i'm goin to spend, cos i just spent $800 on the exhaust. At the moment i'm just leaving it, i'm just leaving my options open. But i don't know i might sell the celi, cos i want 2 get a Supra MkII and set it up for drift with a 2JZ.

I didn't know whether the 3s-fe could handle a turbo, somethin like a T28, but what about management (Microtec), intercooler, wastegate and all the other shit. It could be very pricey, but i'm sick of redlinin without a release of psssssst te te te pressure aka i need boost.
My mate just finished fittin a RB20 to his R31, and it sounds nice, even thou his still got the stock turbo on it, and another mate has a GT35R on a RB20 in his VL. F#ck its powerful, but i need it too, you know what i mean?

pity to be putting a turbo oin it after you've just paid for extractors.

personal choice would be to save up for a mkII supra, then put a 7m-gte/1jz-gte/2jz-gte in it. (no bias here of course!) Smile

sillycar88 i am almost finished coverting my 87celi's 3sge to a 3sgte. My advice to you would be sell ur celi and get the mkII supra. If u don't love the car then don't spend lots of money on it, save ur money and buy the car u want. I love my celica, so i will spend the money that the conversion requires.

Oh I do love my celi, a lot of time has been spent into it, probably not as much as yourselfs, though this is my 1st car and i'm a student, so it's hard to find time, that's why i need the car to be quiker so i have more time, ???
i'm probably gettin carried away, and u guys might b right, but i will certainly think about it.
Maybe there's some other mods i can do? Suggestions?

Here's my suggestion: type properly.
I know some people think 12 years of studying english is a bit much (i hated it more than anyone), but don't throw away all that hard work.

no offence, but it takes longer to read giberish

Like i said i don't have much time, especially for other peoples problems, i find it easier to type u rather than you, or mods instead of modifications, i know it's only 1 (one) or more letters, but seriously is it that hard to pronounce a letter and figure it out. It's not like I'm writing a letter to the Prime Minister
I'm here to listen to suggestions 4 (for) my car, not how to solve other peoples reading habits.
Sorry I don't want to be offended or to offend, but it's a habit and its quicker, but i'll take it into consideration.

And yet you expect us to take the time to listen to your problems? That attitude really shits me. Rolling Eyes
