Removal of 7MGTE Injector Rail Tue, 26 August 2003 09:37 Go to next message
So there is a split o-ring or something on my brother's 7MGTE injector rail and it is excitedly spraying petrol all over the engine block when it's running.

We need to pull the (#2) injector out to replace the o-ring (I assume). Is this a heaps long job? Do we need to remove the intake manifold to access/remove the injectors?

(I notice there is a big sensor on the forward section of the intake manifold that may hinder removal of the rail without removing the manifold)

Any help you can give would be so much appreciated. I am very familiar with 3S engines, but the 7M is a new world for me Smile

Ah, at least it's an easy fix Smile

* Remove intake piping over the motor
* Undo inlet runners where the bolt to head and you can pull it away a bit
* This should give you enough room to undo the 3 (2?) bolts that hold in the fuel rail.

You will also need to (from memory) remove one of the solid fuel lines that go to the end of the fuel rail, as it's not flexible enough to allow you to move it.

Ok, so with the removal of the relevant components, the rail can lift up enough for the injectors to come out?

That's awesome mate thanks. So bizarre, it didn't start till Sunday. Drive down was fine, and then we started smelling petty... bad. Confused

Can I pick up the o-rings from Toyota?

About half the cars on the road use injectors of the same style as the Supra ones, so you should be able to get them anywhere. Repco, Autobarn, Toyota.. any of those I'd say will ahve them off the shelf. Smile

So does that mean you can take the rail off without removing the intake manifold????
