are they the same as the 91 Celicas? If so, grab a ST20X series shifter assy, they are a lot better with much reduced throw.

any wrecker that has a 94-99 Celica in the yard.

ST20X just refers to the ST202, ST204 and ST205 series Celicas (94-99).

Yes, the Celicas from 89-93 are *similar* to the Camry of that era, but this model Celica (ST18X) still has a HUGE gearshift throw.... hence the reason to go for the later model (ST20X) shifter.

The gearbox is really irrelevant in this respect, its just the shifter you want... the linkages just attach the the shifter.

your car has the 3S-FE motor.. the Celica GT4 has the 3S-GTE. Virtually identical gearboxes (in terms of size and position).

So if a 96 Celica (5S-FE) shifter assey fits a GT4 gearbox, then its probably going to fit the Camry.

Its no biggie. Go buy it from the wrecker. Even if it doesn't work, then there will be lots of ST18X Celica owners here happy to take it off your hands for what you paid for it.

the 4th gen celicas (86-89) is the closet with its 3S-GE engine and even some of the 4th gen celicas (ST model not SX) had the exact same engine as the camry (3S-FE)
