Scoop[ 18 vote(s) ]
1.Muscle style 2 / 11%
2.Ricer style 1 / 6%
3.No scoop 15 / 83%

I want to get a bonnet scoop for my car for these reasons,

(a) You dont need to do anything to your motor for some fool to think your car is a "fully sick ride"
(b) less importantly they lower engine bay temp and increase airflow

should i get like a muscle car style one or should i go for a more ricey style scoop you should know the difference.
Heres my car (dont laugh its my first one)

forcing air into the bay from the top will start to hinder the flow of air comming from the grill. this will make it hard for the air to pass thru your radiator and then pass out the engine bay all together. this will result in higher engine bay temps.

u will find that the 'hornet scoop' or 'shakers' are usually there to feed a very heavily breathing V8 engine 4 times in capacity to your engine.

WRX style scoops (usually the most popular rice scoop) are functional because they force air over the intercooler which is mounted above the engine. u will find the engine manufacturer has gone to the trouble of designing a way for this air to leave the engine bay aslo.

if you are serious about cooling your engine bay u should find out a way to get the air out. a rearward facing bonnet vent is useful in sucking hot air out of the engine bay

but hey if u want a scoop for wank factor dont let me stop u. the car looks awesome as it is great choice on wheels mate. but a badly placed scoop in my opinion would ruin the car totally.

EDIT for spelling.

dont go rice, i will be getting a scoop as soon as funds alow
i want to make a custom bit underneath the hood so it directs air strait into the carbie.

And hey if you want one get one dude don't be a sheep and get a wrx scoop or coswerth vents.

but they cant be two big or they look gay

this would be good if it wasnt so tall if that was flush on the bonnet and smaller it would look mint.

i reckon anyway

that car looks awesome, if I was to do anything on the bonnet it would be enlargening the vents, not adding a scoop

A couple of Cosworth vents would be more practical - Unless you have a frontmount - of have a dirty bug holley underneath that bonnet that NEEDS airflow - youd be doing your car a major injustice to put a scoop on it
