Hi has any one here done this convertion with a bigish turbo I had a hf ct26 on mine an have since brought a turbonetics 60-1 but have decided not to use it and im gona use a turbonetcs tso4 t series competition turbo instead as it has a mutch more suitable compresor map very broad eficiency and capable of maintaining high efficiencys at high pressure ratios it has a .55 a/r frontcover and im gona use a .58 trim exhaust housing with a 10 blade p trim wheel it is rated to 550 hp and will support about 480 rwhp at max this is less than the 60-1 but should have mutch beta general power at a later stage i will upgrade to a ballbearing core im still in the process of organising the rest of the suport systems and the auto trans to cope with 550 fwhp b about 6 month till its ready im interested to hear from any one on what there experiences have been with the 1jz with big turbos what sorta lag ect coments mutch appreciated

Well...is this for daily road use ?? Competition ?
Anyways, as for the manifold, you can use the 7M-GTE headers..(if i remember correctly)...the others..hmm...will have to read your post again...
cheers

1. Turbo engines don't have "headers".
2. No way will an M series manifold fit on a JZ series cylinder head!

Roller Bearing turbos... eekk
Old School Big Turbo on Short Stroke Engine equals Lag.
But then with short stroke = big revs, big revs = friendly lag.
I'm looking at a BB GT35 with a 0.86 Exhaust A/R for my 1JZ, it should spool fairly well and perhaps even better than a CT26 did on my old Boat Anchor 7M

hmmm yeah due to the fact im gona b using a piggy back type computer Trust Emanage i wont be able to raise the rev limit but as long as its startin to generate boost by around 3500 and makin fullboost by 4500 im not to woried and the exhaust housing isnt as big as the one on a gt 35-40 so i dont think itl b 2 bad and the 1jz doesnt mind sitting at 5-7ooorpm 4 long periods its not to bad as im using an auto mainly 2nd n 3rd gear work

the ct26 was a turbonetics hf job with a 10 degree backcut and to4e super 60 compressor it would make 18 psi by about 4000 rpm but seemed to be really laggy 4 a smallish turbo .Ive heard theres a soara with a trust t78 33d in autralia id like to know how laggy that is because they r a big turbo.

In reality, a CT26 isn't a smallish turbo for a car

dude with t78 soarer would be therapy from PF. don't know what his name is here. But the car is for sale here.
I was looking towards a 600HP GT30 with an AR of .82. That is what is recommended from Ray Hall's site. My car is auto and will be used for drag racing. Will have a higher stall. What do people think of this combo?

I think for the 1j motor the gt35 would be a better choice... as most 2L use the gt30 sr20's and the 3sgte's (soon which i will have) and gt35's being on the bigger motors.... would be perfect for a 2.5L i thinks.

i was thinking gt30 because i don't think i want up to 700hp in my 1100ish kg car! I don't want to be pushing the limits of the 1jz internals that far. My goal is to eventually run 10's on slicks.

Do you know why the boost was bouncing? what sort of exhaust manifold are you using? How does it feel to drive on the street? Nice power BTW, that is american dyno right, so about 400rwhp in oz dyno?

it looks to be bouncing because of ignition... problems breaking down somewhere.... if u wanna run 10's on slicks ur gunna need some bigger turbo then the gt30.... and i promise u will need some nice internals for this to happen better start saving up ur pennies....

i would have thought that a theoretical 600hp engine in an 1100ish kg car would be pretty damn close to a 10 second car with slicks and good diff etc.
Older model rx7's weigh only a little less than this, and I don't think they need 600hp to do a 10 second quarter. ?
P.S I don't want to go drag racing every weekend or anything like that, just every now and again.

yeah 600hp engine or turbo.... i though u were refering to the turbo if that is the case then the turbo is rated at that thats all i will give u..... just because a turbo is rated at that dosent mean the engine is.... a turbo is a just a starting point to make power... then the rest comes if u want relible good power.

yeah man i know what you're saying.
Ok, say i had a 600hp GT30 on a 1jz. And was running enough boost to make 500hp, then there is more to get out of the turbo. But if you reckon that the 1jz internals would not last with a GT30 then what would be the point of getting a GT35? I was just thinking that a 600hp turbo is pretty big and should make some nice power with a level of streetability also. I just thought that the gt35 would be a bit too big for an auto 2.5L.
Wastegate: have you got any internal mods to your 1j? you are getting gt35r right?
The other reason, i was thinking GT30 was that the Ray Hall calculator recommended it for my needs.
Anyone, thought about using a t04E?
