an estimate, please? Mon, 01 September 2003 13:01 Go to next message
how much would it cost to get:
* New cv's
* new pads all around and discs (think the discs might be damaged)
* drivers window is very hard to wind up/down - handle has basically come off but can be re-attached.
* New rear lights (one of mine is cracked)

this would be for my AE92 Hatch SX.
basically im thinking about doing a FULL service. any idea how much it would end up costing me?.. any chance it would be less than $1000?

if anyone could give me approximate estimates it would be good..

cheers,
Jose.

This is the way I see it dude. It all depends on how much you want to/can do/are willing to do yourself.

1. CV's -> this job sux, but I think you get them done for $500ish??

2. Pads + Disks. -> install yourself you will save a lot of money, and easy AS to do. If all you need is a machining of your rotors, this will be <$100

3. Driver's Window -> Take it off and have a fiddle yourself. FREE Smile

4. Rear Lights -> Source from a wrecker and install yourself. Maybe $100??

A FULL service involves a little more though. Coolant flush and oil change for starters (do yourself for $60ish)

My 2c anyway

Working on cars is just like Lego for older people (though, I still like lego now... hmmm...)

You don't have to be a genious to follow instructions from a book, and if you have even a granule of problem solving ability (which I sure you do) these things won't be too hard at all.

Doing brakes, it is SO worth spending $8 on a self-bleeding kit. they don't always put that in manuals Smile

The only thing there I wouldn't do myself is the CVs. (if this was me)

I didn't know anything till I started doing it either. Tremblingly working from a manual knowing pretty much nothing. But it all works out. This goes there, that goes here.. etc..
