MA61 seats into AE86 Sat, 06 September 2003 02:34 Go to next message
I know this isnt rocket science by any measure, but before i try to rip the rails off or anything i just wanted to know if i can just swap the rails over then bolt it in. Ive already got the seats, and I just broke the driver seat on my AE86 so time is of the essence.

If it's anything like an RA23 Celica, it's not a direct swap but it's pretty close. If you don't mind drilling a couple of holes in your floor pan you won't have a problem. Smile

not floor pan norbie!! Razz

in the RA23/28 the holes the inside hole match up ok, but the outside holes are about 20-30mm too far inwards. Hence drill into the mounting parts on the car to match Smile

HOWEVER! I just measured up my AE71 (same floor pan as AE86 i think), and it appears that the MA61 seats should indeed fit in there, bolt in!
I'll be trying this out next wreckers trip!!

In my many years of wrecker scavenging, not once have I spotted an MA61 with seats intact. In fact I can only think of 2 or 3 occasions when I've found an MA61 at all...

They usually come with the "factory rip" on the drivers side lumbar support. My passenger side is basically perfect though.
