I heard somewhere that the MA61 seats were actually designed by Recaro. Dunno if it's true though.

I'd say Toyota probably looked at the best Recaro seat of the time...and copied it with a few changes

Nope, I've seen quite a few fat-asses sit on them They take the punishment no problems, the lumbar section is only in the back so the weight isn't directly on it.

Ok just curious what is so special about the MA61 seats? Are they worth putting in over raceseats you think?
MA61.....hm is that a Supra? I am still learning chassis codes.
Can someone post a pic of the seats or somethin? They fit in Sprinters easy enough (somewhere posted elsehwere I have read this, yes?).

They are about 6-way adjustable with 3 adjustable lumbar cushions located in the back of the seat. The side lateral supports are manually adjustable so you can wind it right in and hold yourself in place.

ma61 is a mk2 supra... the ones that look like celicas in the back half (with flares).
they're a *really* comfortable seat, with great adjustable body huggers.
my only problem with them is that they're heavy bastards, with most race seats being 10kgs lighter.
but if you're not super fussed about weight on your car, the supra seats are great

Haha, its quite comfy when you're used to it. My lumbar support doesn't work atm, but even still, they are way comfier than most peoples seats! So handy being able to make them grip tight.
