Hey, Look for a vacuum line on the plenum after the throttle and put a T piece in between and connect you boost guage to that. Not all the vacuum lines will be suitable tho so in your case I'd T off the Line which goes from the Plenum to the fuel pressure regulator. Does that help at all?

well that depends on what you want to measure Rolling Eyes

if you want to measure the boost in the plenum, hook it up to a fitting on the plenum. if you want to measure boost in the runners, do it there. same for throttle body, or pre-TB

it makes no difference if "it is just boost, not boost& vac" it will just not register the vacuum, even tho vacuum is applied to it....
why would there possibly be a difference in hooking it up??

and it is not a boost gauge, it's a pressure gauge that is labelled "boost" Very Happy you have to hook it to somewhere that has pressure to measure. (and if it's carbed, not ported vacuum Wink )

It is probably more a concern for supercharged set-ups, but if your guauge needle jumps around like crazy under "boosting" conditions, then it is reading too much of the boost signal ie all the variations in pressure........so all you do is to put a restriction in the line with a 1mm hole or there abouts...this will smooth out the subtle variations and give better signal / pressure reading. ( or you can crush the line a little !!! )

regards kevin.

Have you checked the line? When I installed mine (used a line from the intake mainfold) it didn't work - then we found the line was kinked as it connected into the cup (gauge holder). A little fiddling around and hey presto! A working boost gauge.

Make sure the line (or connection to manifold) is not blocked,as does actually connect to the manifold/whatever else you're using and you can feel vaccum from it when the engine is running. If it's a mechanical gauge there's very little else that can be wrong.

don't use the vac line that goes to your power steering thingy... as that can have variable pressure in it at some points, not always the same as your manifold.

any of the others should be fine (I think). I spliced mine off the same tube my ECU was using, so I was sure it was a stable vac line.

btw - would it matter if I put the t-piece for my boost gauge right next to my ecu? I can't think of it causing any problems, but wanted to check before I go chopping more vacuum hosing

think of it is as buffering the ECU signal, it will slightly slow the resonse of the MAP, but if you have a lumpy cam, it might actually help smooth out the signal.

personally, unless i had a problem with fluctuating MAP signal, i would use a seperate tube. but it may be no problem at all.. best would be to datalog the MAP signal with and without the gauge connected, and see what happens to the signal.
