New turbo help!!!

Ello boys n girls.., and yes I know it should be in technical, but it too scary in there!!!
Right the Turbos are all on, everything shiney and new, or very shiney and old... oil lines all there, coolant lines all there, all done. car starts and runs fine.
(totally stinks too with the new finish of the turbos burning off, and all the polish on the heat sheilds doing the same!!!)
what I'm asking is about new turbos and noise. they are brand new units but sound like they are whining like the old knackered ones did??? do "unbroken in" turbos do this??? I let it idle for a good half an hour before I drove it to make sure oil was EVERYWHERE, and kept topping up, checking for leaks, the preaure is spot on, so no probs there....
theres no smoke or anything, so that should all be good, everything is fine apart from the howling noise??? I just poodled round town.. never went over 1 psi (woohooo) as im not sure about that noise....
all ~I can think is where the downpipe joins the decat pipe its blowing like a good'un (only thing left to sort, leave it to my exhaust place lol)... and I'm hearing normal noise, but "leaking out" where the downpipe joins and sounding like me old knackered ones????
HELP!!!

An exhaust leak just after the turbo will make a hell of a racket, even if it's a small one. A friend's car was like this once and it sounded like a big diesel truck!

You can't break in a turbo?! Think about the revs they do even under 2000 engine rpm!

mk4 turbos (if that's the car you're talking about) tend to make a lot of noise anyways. every one I've heard makes a whistling noise as soon as the first one is fully spooled

Every 1G I've heard has had quite audible turbo whine as they start spooling, they may have been stuffed before but still sounded normal.
