icon5.gif  18RGUE Wiring & Computer Problem? Mon, 08 September 2003 08:12 Go to next message
i recently brought a 18rgue engine from the wreckers but it is missing the wiring harness and the computer. i was told by the wreckers to use the wiring and computer off a 22r engine.
is the this true or not, if not does anybody know where i can get wiring harness and computer from, or would it just be easier to buy some carbies for it.
does anybody know if you can buy a haynes manual for the 18RG.

Email me triptek@iprimus.com.au

Yes, this is a fairly common thing these days as original 18R-GEU ECU's are damn hard to find. Apparently it works quite well.

Definitely not! Keep the EFI, it's far better for a street-driven car.

You can get a workshop manual from Toyota which covers the 18R-G, but I haven't seen one for the 18R-GEU. They're internally the same though.

Not just tonight, it always shits me when people treat forums like some sort of free help-desk. If you're not willing to contribute to the forums, you have no business asking for help.

In my ever-so-humble opinion that is.

I have all the loom and computer off a 22RE, but I haven't worked out how to wire up the power sources and relays yet (having a hard time with the head currently getting a valve job), Norbie has a pin out diagram for the computer I think so if you ask him nicely he might give you a copy, but all the 22RE stuff is in your haynes celica manual anyway.
The loom fits like a glove though, it is just a matter of trying to slot the AFM and air filter into a convenient position too.
