4AGE using oil

My 4AGE has started to burn oil quite quickly. I know its an old engine and all, and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what i should try first. Also if anyone knows if there are any rebuild kits available, if it comes to rebuilding.

mines doing the same thing and ive been told 2 dirrerent things... they are
1.piston rings
2.valve stem seals
ive also looked into getting a rebuild kit... its 390 or so dollars brand new from blacktown toyota but now ive realised what the path for my sx really is... gze!
