The club records really are quite acheivable !
And of course just a reminder the records page is for Current financial members only. (Your record stands untill it is beaten but you must be a financial member at the time of your run ad you must supply proof of your time.)

Well yea my car will be ready by then but i might not be. I've never dragged, and am only just learning how to drive my car, since it drives nothing like it use to(now its turboed, manual, lowered, etc).
But yea october 22 sounds good.

November 12th sounds better for me and i think i'll still be stuggling to make in in time.
Panel & suspension repair doesn't start on my car till 22Sep. Then when thats done the engine still has to come out and go for the rebuild. Add to that run in time and tuning. What a nightmare.

Stewart, how many runs you get depends on how early you get there, from memory the gates opened at 3 and the drags start at 4:30 OR 5??? Most people arrive at about 6-7pm and we got around 3 runs before then, but once they all arrive we only managed another 2 runs before 9pm when we decided it wasnt worth the wait in the q for another run and left.
going as a group was a real blast, much better than by yourself from my experience, ill probly miss this one as i cant justify the money on a crappy old C
As far as scruitineering goes they are pretty lenient, there must be no loose objects in the cabin etc and pass a basic inspection, youll get the chance to fix anything that theeyre not happy with and must have all rego papers etc to register for the night.
the helmet must comply with Aus/NZ safety design requirement and thats about all, long pants and sleeves I think as well?

cool! thanks Michael, yeah i'd be getting there early.... before everyone else finishes work hopefully . all i want is a couple of repeatable runs as a baseline.. hopefully will be better than the stock 1/4 of 19.2s (@ about 67mph)
cool, i was worried it'd be like another blue slip
hmm, do you know if they would.. ahh... check the engine number in... my mates car?
hmmm, might be time to buy a helmet then.... makes it a little more expensive tho.. hmmmmmmmmm.. pants and sleeves i can do
thanks Michael.

Stewart, I wouldn't worry about stuff like that.. From what I remember, they were pretty lenient about that sorta stuff... All they're worried about is whether the car is able to make the 400m without killing you.

Stewart they do "check" the engine numbers but not too closely , from memory they are more interested in looking at how pretty or different your engine is,than to weither it complys or not , in fact half the cars that go there and have rego would definately NOT pass on the roads
I think all they really look for is the engine type .. e.g 3K,4A etc to make sure its the same as on the rego papers and not look too closely at the numerals. in any case i doubt that they would do too much if they didnt match

But I'm keen to do a "before" run.

what are the chances of an unengineered jza61 making it through? it does look like it belongs there, as long as you dont go checking numbers (the "2500" on the cam cover gives it away - you cant check the engine number on the 1j without taking it out of the car)

Greg,
I have only ever been asked to submit engineer's report once - the guy was having a bit of a laugh to himself about the reference to said engineers report appearing on the rego papers.
I say go for it, they will only start to look closer if you run 110mph+ or sub 12.

I might take an RDO so I can get down there early early and stuff around for a while. Am still worried about my launches, but I'll cope, and the supra driveline should cope too.
Anyone got a set of slicks supra pattern?
... also means I've gotta get the thing rego'd. I've lost my engine receipt so I'll have to "find" it again and go do it. Pain in the arse rtas etc.

also (tell me if im wrong) that if you happen to end up next to a pac powered beasty and its a little threatening, u can wait on the line at the green until your good and ready to go. your reaction time will be shite but it'll give u a chance to concentrate the launch and still get a proper qtr mile time.
am i correct in thinking this?

Rob, this is correct. Your time does not start until you trip the start beam, which is about 6" or 1' (I cannot remember which) past the stage position. Theoretically you can have a reaction time of 1min and still run a 10sec pass.

Actually, when you're up next to one of those rotaries, or a V8, it's usually a good idea to just wait since you can't hear your engine next to one of those....

Nark, tch tch - Wait nothing - have a go at a decent hole shot and at least give the Toyota's a showing. Know enough about your car to get the best out of it even in the heat of intense battle.

That's easy to say when you've got a tacho.
Seriously, it's damn hard to get a good launch when you can't hear your car. At the end of the day, the time is what's important, not not the size of your dick.

Hmm I'm free to come, and I'd love to, I'm not loving the $45 though...I could use the $40 and join toymods....bah I dunno. Nark get yourself to Dick Smith & build yourself up a digital tacho kit, costs like $50(all bits, box, wire etc...), built one to go in my SV01 wagon(1S-Ci...dont know why I bothered ), but they are compatible with anthing up to 12 cyls & max revs 9900,you can set a redline & it can also control a rev limiter. Has funky big numbers & a 10 segment multicoloured led thingy showing you revs, works awesome & looks like......

Nah dude, comparing dick sizes can be done on the streets where you don't have to pay to run and there are no timecards that you get to treasure (and use to compare dick sizes later).
