The original Back To The Future was released in 1985, and thus pre-dates the MA70. They could have used an MA61 though, which is almost as ugly as a DeLorean!

Pffff.
Havn't you seen number 3? The flux capacitor ran on Mr Fusion. The car still ran on ordinary gasoline.
Havn't watched 'em for a while, might put 'em on. Bought the DVD box set and havn't opened it

The Roman Autotek ute has no Strikers or visible door locking mechanism, do the doors actually lock closed or is purely a show vehicle?

well said rob.
its an ma61 too in the first ten mins... i haven't watched the movie for a while now, but, if memory serves its where marty and jennifer are waiting for her father near the start, and, the old lady shoves then tin rattling with money in it in martys face, and, he gets the flyer that saves his ass...
on a non toyota note anyone notice the DS citroen as the taxi in the 2nd.
i'll go get a life now...

When I was at Car Cool the other day there was a Delorean in there getting its aircon fixed... DMC12 was the numberplates and the guy had fitted a makeshift flux capacitor to it. Don't think it actually worked.
What I noticed was how terrible the panel fit and build quality of the Delorean. Crappiest quality I have seen in any car... Seriously. Any Toyota would have kicked it's arse.

the doc explains why he uses the delorean in the first one...
Marty: Wait a minute, wait a minute, Doc, are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?
Doc: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car why not do it with some style. Besides, the stainless, steel construction made the flux dispersal.....
hehehehe classic

I personly like the Delorean, its looks great and some of the features are quite appealing to me (stainless steel pannels, stylish gullwing doors). I think they would make great cruisers.
Plus they now are quite rare. (i don't think there are any in aust, altho i might be wrong)

When I mentioned build quality I was talking about the things that DMC (Delorean Motor Company) constructed... Obviously if the engine and drivetrain are made by Volvo and Renault they are probably good... But, if you go and have a look at a Delorean in person you will know what I am talking about.
None of the gaps between panels are even... the curve of the doors doesn't match the curve of the roof... the boot is flimsy plastic... etc... Have you seen any Deloreans other than in pictures?

anyway, before the thread gets too aggressive. ALl this talk of the movie makes me want to go watcht the New DVD set I brought dad. All three movies
Will keep an eye out for all supras...what are the chances of a TA22 driving around in the background?
ps..I'd pay alot more for a TA22 then a Delorian (did I spell it right? ohwell, I don't care for it. In fact the only one I've ever seen was in a movie..WOW 'deloreans are shit (hot)'. I bet everyone knows what it is...its that GOOD)

Badly managed company... Too expensive to make for the amount they could be sold for. Not many people that buy a new car give a shit about rust proofness and lifespan, so that was not a selling point.
