Victorian Love/Hate Relationship

Things I hate about Victoria:
Badge driven wanker mobiles, how many BMW's and Mercs can you put on one street?
Trams, outdated version of public transport.
Arrogant people, never come accross more self centred arseholes before
Traffic, it's f'ing nuts!
Tollways, they use your taxes to build a road, then charge you again to use it? Right?!
The lack of communication, noone talks to each other?
The weather, cheap shot I know, but the Sun is a full on wimp here!
Calder Park, what a joke - $17 to freeze and not a cent reinvested!
Things I love about Victoria:
The women dress up really well to go out for the day!!!
The size of Melbourne, again - it's f'ing nuts!
Great Ocean Road, excellent for just cruising along, and the sausage rolls in Lorne are delicious!
The Vic Markets, amongst all the shit, are some excellent stalls
Restaurants, never been so perplexed over where to eat?!
The History, seen stuff I've only ever read about before.
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, outstanding!!!
All in all, I'm still looking forward to getting back to Perth and picking the tools back up again!

As a Melbournian I'd just like to say that trams kick the shit through busses. And about the weather, maybe you have grasped the concept of Winter. Plus people DO talk to each other here, half of all motorists are driving one handed because they're on their mobiles.

dude.. no point defending melb's weather - it's a lost cause
as for busy and badge cars... you've obviously never been to sydney. worse on both counts!
same with the girls dressing up - uni is filled with gorgeous women (and I love it).
mind you, most of the people I know in melbourne are sexy girls

Hey,
As a woman who has just recently joint this forum i must say i have seen some F******* weird shit but when i came to this post i had to stop and make a few observations 1. vic kicks ass over perth any day 2. yes the great ocean road is the best 3. what is with the sausage rolls???????????? I must say i am a little disturbed by the relish with which you describe the cylindrical meat filled objects.
Going to go have another pick through what you guys have been talking about don't get me wrong this forum isn't half bad. A bit much testosterone floating around but some posts i have actually found quite amusing from a womans perspective of course...

Of course. Collingwood and Eddie are a cancer on australia that needs to be removed swiftly.
and vicchic, being as this is a car forum, it makes sense that the testosterone flows abit more freely here then in other places

yep clint.
although I have never been to perth I totally agree.
the trams are so bloody slow and they just hold up traffic.
the pollution is horrific - I ride a pushie regularly and the air quality is very bad.
also I wouldnt claim the great ocean road as part of melbourne its 150kms away. - how many melbournians have actually used it more than once?
and it u want to go to the beach during summer you have to drive 100km to torquay. - they fucked up their own beaches now they want to ruin someone elses.
this city has very little to be proud of.
the people here are totally self obsessed - true, but I doubt its any different anywhere else - its the result of a superficial society.
positives - Ill get back to ya.

Take a holiday to Perth sometime, think you might enjoy it?! Used to ride 30Km a day into the city and back, lack of pollution and wank factor made it quite enjoyable!

chuckles - live outside of melbourne and be a happy camper - i have the Great Ocean road about 30 mins drive from my front door - no peak hour traffic - clean air , and space all around me ..
all i have to put up with is B and S utes - and the odd wanker in Vn SS commodores - and seeing as the GT4 will spank any challenge offered by both - im happy !

clint, you need to pay a visit to Sydney then mate. The weather is better, the city is bigger, the markets are better, the chicks apparently dress better.
Gotta love that state vs state rivalry.

Thats a discussion we always have about Perth roads with my friend who used to live in Sydney. Because a lot of our roads are newer, there was more thought put into the way they work etc.

I agree
I've been to perth, and it's so much more pleasant than syd.
syd is an evolved rats warren of shit, criss crossing everywhere
plus less people, less cars, wider lanes, less houses.. etc etc

There are a few roads over here which get labelled "Sydney roads"...they are called highways yet they are two very narrow lanes in each direction and a speed limit of like 60kph.
Perth is cool, I want to go to the city itself, I just get on the freeway about 2 mins from my house and about 20 mins and I'm in the centre of it. There are lots of big main roads around each of the suburbs to help speed things along.

Yep, the roads in Perth are certainly better than Melbourne, and Victoria in general. Another thing I'm prepared to admit is Melbourne water is very good to drink, I can certainly taste the difference between the two cities. Fortunately I don't live in Murray Bridge, SA, I nearly barfed a lung up drinking the water there!!!

Perth water has too much chlorine in it, apart from that it doesn't taste too bad.
As far as I can tell, fucking terrible drinking water is par for the course in SA.

Doctor Karl (no, not you Witzl!) told me never to drink from the shower, so I don't. He also said to piss on your feet in public showers to kill Tinea, but personally I prefer to wear thongs!

now there's a good way to make friends with the surfies at the beach or the hulking bodybuilders at the gym (only times I would use a public shower - and never have at the gym)

Things I hate about Sydney:
Roads are crap
Alot of Sydney people are rude, arrogant (especially on the North Shore)
Some Sydney people think they are trendy Americans that you end up laughing at them, because they think they're trendy, but they are just tryhard wankers.
They can't drive for shit
Don't go to Western Sydney. Scary!
I thank my lucky stars I live on the Central Coast, and only have to hear or look at the occasional redneck.
On the topic of Victorians or Melbournians, I haven't been there, but in my job I do have to speak with a dept thats in Melb, and they also call our dept in Sydney and boy oh boy, they think they are the bomb. "Hi its so and so calling from MELBOURNE". They never say the dept, its always "I'm calling from MELBOURNE!" and i'm thinking "WHO GIVES A SHIT!"
Bye Bye!

You could make a friend for life by pissing on their feet to cure them from tinea
And you guys are just girly sooks whinging about the quality of water in Adelaide. Sure it's tough on the stomach lining and, on occasion, will stimulate your gag reflex but it's chock full of chloriney goodness. And you eat less because every drink of water is at least 3-5% solids. And no-one ever died from it, unlike some Sydney outbreaks of giardia.
Bore water is even better, it's just like spring water that you've dug through 30 meters of clay and rock to find. Full of healthy vitamins and essential minerals.
You melbournites can just crawl back to sipping your pansy spring water at your overpriced cafe watching your chubby, snobby, black clad girls (a recent study showed 90% of Melborne women are very snobby - esp when consider so few are good looking) waddle past ignoring you completely, as you resolve to get drunk at the many 24 hr bars and then purchase some pornography from the local "liberated bookshop" (one on every corner) since you can't pick up. /rant.

Ohh, that got a bit vicious towrds the end!
I really do love you Melbournians , it's a great city full of good record stores, book shops (not the liberated kind), shops and nice architecture.
Although I've only had one half-decent night in Melb (Bass Station Sondaze at the Viper Room), and then had to line up for an hour for that, my mates had a blast last time they went. Maybe I just need some local knowledge the next time I go.....

Hey i think the women ignored you because they could tell you were from Adelaide
Try a night at Bubble on a Saturday night, and tell me Melbourne doesnt rock. Oh yeah, we are the SPORTING CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA too.
One thing i can say about Adelaide though: Good... herbs.
I cant say anything good about Sydney, apart from complimenting you guys on your highly developed crime culture
cheers

I guess my Crows jumper and beanie must have given it away
My mates did go to Bubble.... and had some hilarious stories to tell about it afterwards!
Not so long ago when it was only a fine to have ten herbaceous plants in SA every man and his dog were growing it! Ahhhh Great days, great days!
Now things are a little tighter but Adelaide still has vast quantities and high quality - in fact it's our main export to the eastern states!
